Lotacracry (changing fidelity from one party to another) remained dominant attribute of political history since inception of Pakistan. It is proven lethal and of disastrous consequences for a democratic state, and in case of Pakistan for its quasi-democracy. Since Pakistan has adopted the western style of democracy in name, has wrecked havoc in the social fabric of the country. There has been witnessed extreme polarized politics. Either of the parties try their best to pursue their interests while compromising the national interest. In the west, especially in UK and USA, lotacracry is considered an infliction on their constitution, though, they give this right to their electables in the form of impeachment yet not of horse-trading. In some cases it leads to life long ban.

In the context of Pakistan, it is not the case and must not be. Changing voting favour is the fundamental right of every individual as provided by the constitution. A person, however if not satisfied from his/her leader may go against failing to fulfill the criteria. On the contrary, if the same person went against the party and he/she was banned for life time, is similar to check on basic right.

Prior to go for such move and to make it legal and accept to everyone as well constitutionally legitimate, the parties should adopt intra-party democracy like other democratic countries, ie, USA, UK etc. For instance, if an electable is not satisfied from his/her leader of the party, what are the way out then, he has to either keep silent or changing loyalty, which in both cases gross injustice with the masses of concerned.

Therefore, this right of 'changing fidelity' should be given legal ground before bringing complete overhaul in the intra-party system __ democratically electing leader.

Otherwise, it shall be the masses to pay the price of their chaos.
