Hello everyone, my name is Seth Wada. I am an 18 year old teen from Nigeria, Kaduna state.
I graduated from high school in 2017/2018 term. I used to be a straight A student in my high school days. Before graduating, i dreamed of studying mechanical engineering in a Canadian university. I thought that even if i couldn't study abroad, then maybe i would in a good university in my country. I was very enthusiastic and my future seemed bright. But things were about to take a different turn.
After writhing my final exams (WAEC), my results would not be out until early 2019, in the meantime, a computer training school were holding a scholarship exam for high school graduates to learn either web design, web development and computer engineering for six mounths. I wrote and passed the exam and began the training in August. After learning basic computer skills for two months, the remaining four months would be used to learn any of the three specialties. I learnt all i could about web development and decided i wanted to be a web developer. But after the first two months, we were told the requirements to continue was to get a laptop. It was in that time my state (Kaduna) had a violent religious riot. We were under curfew for almost two months. After the curfew was relaxed, my parents had no money to buy me a laptop because our business went bankrupt. I couldn't continue the training because i had no laptop and dropped out. My results came out in early 2019, but my parents still had no money to send even to a cheap college.
Shattered Dreams
I was unable to go to university because there was no money. I reaserched a lot about web development and decided to teach myself to code with my Android phone (Tecno M3).
I spent the whole of 2019 and early 2020 trying but i made no progress at all. I then decided to just find a way to make money online. i tried a few apps and websites but failed. Having nothing else to do, i became a bike taxi man. My bike is very old so i barely make 1 dollar a day.
I continued to find ways to make money online. In late 2020, while browsing on youtube, i came across videos that showed how to make money on youtube without a camera or a studio.
They are called faceless youtube channels. But i recently learnt that youtube has started demonitizing and taking down those kind of videos and channels.
How i Discovered Read.cash
Actually, i watched a video that talked about an alternative website like youtube called Dtube. I cant say much about it but to sign up, you need a steemit account.
So i browsed about steemit, and found out it was a decentralized social media site where you earn crypto (steem), by upvoting, posting and commenting. I procastinated a bit before signing up. But to my dismay, the website was not working smothly on my phone. So i searched for some alternatives and thats how i came to know about read.cash.
My Dream
I still don't have a computer (i am writing this post on my phone, a gionee P5 mini) but i hope to make some money here. I know its not as easy as just posting any rubbish and then start making money. I want to write interesting articles that people can enjoy reading. I pray i will be able to do this even with my phone. I still want to be a web developer in the future (possibly a youtuber as well), and maybe travel, just maybe, travel to Canada.
