Relief Goods distribution in Alegria for the Affected Families from Typhoon Rai

The distribution of relief goods from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is held at the workshop in Alangasil, Madridejos, Algeria, Cebu. With the help of the owner of the workshop, Julius Durango, the event took place, and with the help of Mayor of Alegria Verna Magallon and Vice Mayor Gilbert Magallon.

The distribution is for the affected families in the tragedy of Typhoon Rai. Every family will receive 1 pack of relief goods that contains 5kg of rice and 8 canned foods, with 3 bottles of clean water.

Their target is to distribute supplies to the families from Barangay Madridejos, affected from the Typhoon Rai, who striked Cebu Province, Northern part of Negros Island, and its neighbouring cities.

In addition, the governor of Cebu Province, Gov. Gwen Garcia, didn't showed up in person, but able to tell the officials to remind the people regards of the coupons to be used in hardwares for hardware supplies, and can be used for anything in any participating merchants. All the money used are from the Government and from the sponsors.

The affected families will receive P8,000 ($156.22, $1 = P51.20 as of Jan 31, 2022, 9:01PM PHT+8) when their house is totally damaged, while P5,000 ($97.50) is given to the families when their house are partially damaged. They will receive a coupon with a QR code, to be used in hardware stores then for any participating merchants (more likely, malls). They won't able to use the coupon when not used for buying hardware tools first. They guarantee receive 5 GI sheets and 5 plywoods, plus screws, then they able to use it in any purchase in malls or any participating shops. When scanning the coupon, it automatically detects if its already used to buy any hardware supplies or not, and how much money the person who owns the coupon still has to use using the coupon. Only one coupon for one family.

This time, they prioritise the totally damaged ones to receive the coupon.

As people came to receive the goods, social distancing is not followed. Although they wore face masks, Mayor Verna warned the people to practice social distancing, as well as to keep their patience while waiting.

Vice Mayor Gilbert said that they're still lacking of supplies, but they prioritise Barangay Madridejos as he loves the people of Madridejos. Barangay Poblacion already received the goods, so it's Madridejos turn to receive some of their needs.
