We usually call the creator of various inventions the father. For example: Ibn Sina, the father of medical science, Aristotle, the father of zoology. What if women were the inventors of this? But did we call them fathers, or did we change the name to wife Bach? Or to avoid this trouble, I would not recognize him for the respect and achievement he deserves? The history of about one and a half hundred years ago today says so.

Meteorology is an unprecedented branch of science for which fauna still exists on earth. If we had no idea about the weather, what would it be like? The warmer the tropics, the colder the tropics, the more lifeless the earth would be.

The average temperature of the earth is rising every year. Due to the greenhouse effect, the climate of the world is constantly changing We all have more or less an idea about the greenhouse effect. However, have we ever wondered, where did this idea come from? Or who was this person who first identified greenhouse gases affecting the environment?

Although the origin of the word 'greenhouse' is disputed, the first person who came up with the idea of 'greenhouse gas effect' was Eunice Newton Foot. Who was not recognized at the time for research and discovery just because she was a woman.

Birth and early career

In 1819, a baby girl was born in Gashen, USA. Named Eunice Newton Foot. Eunice grew up in Bloomfield, New York, with six sisters and five brothers. Although not much is known about Younis' personal life, the research team has been able to find out some information about his early career.

In 1838, Younis Foot was admitted to the Troy Female Seminary. Located in Troy, New York, it was the first school for girls to be taught to girls in the same way as boys. Its changed and current name is Emma Willard School.

There, Eunice learned about the initiation and spread of science from the eminent botanist Ames Eaton. There was a science college next to the school. The girls of 'Troy Female Seminary' were allowed to go to the next college to get acquainted with science. It was there that Eunice first came up with the idea of basic chemistry and biology.

The concept of the greenhouse effect

Younis did this experiment of foot greenhouse effect with raw hands. He has examined the effects of sunlight on various gases throughout his career. For this he used an air pump, four mercury thermometers, and two glass cylinders. First he put the two thermometers in two cylinders. One was emptied by an air pump and the other was filled by air. Giving the same amount of temperature, he added a little liquid to both the cylinders and took them to the sunlight. There he observes subtle temperature differences in different conditions.

He performed this experiment on carbonic acid, ordinary air and hydrogen. In the nineteenth century, carbon dioxide was called carbonic acid. At the end of the experiment, Eunice concluded that carbon dioxide could hold up to 125 degrees Fahrenheit, the most heat.

From this experiment he was the first to give an idea of how the ratio of carbon dioxide in the air is responsible for raising the overall temperature of the environment.

Detailed career

In addition to science, Eunice spread herself into more and more activities. At that time, women did not have the right to vote in Europe. Those who worked for suffrage were called Suffragists or women's suffrage activists. The first stage of feminism was this suffrage movement. The society of that time did not like these activists. Yet ignoring the point of view of society, Younis has worked at his own pace. Renowned safariist Elizabeth Cady Stanton was his best friend.

The Seneca Convention Falls was organized in 1848 to ensure women's political equality, including the right to vote. This was the first public conference on women's rights. About 300 men and women gathered there. There Younis played an important role and his signature was found in the contract.

AAAS when interrupted

The largest science community in the world today is the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS for short). In the nineteenth century, not all science-based institutions recruited new researchers and women scientists, but the AAAS helped them develop. Foot was one of the honorary female members of AA
