Introduction
It has been a while since I last posted on article to this community. In my last article, I told us how I learnt to code, It's importance and I left a link for those who are interested in coding. But today I wanna talk about something different.
What is Technology
Have you ever wondered how it is possible to call a person at a wide distance from you with just a cell phone or chat with people on different platforms? It is just like magic. This and many more have been made possible due to technology.
Technology is the application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes, especially in industry. It deals with machinery and equipment developed from the application of scientific knowledge.
Why Technology?
Now a days, the world has become a global village due to the invention of technological gadgets like phone, laptops etc. Now things have become easier and people can communicate with one another more easily and freely. There are so many advantages added to human life as well as disadvantages in the use of technology.
Advantages of Technology
They are countless advantages of technology over the disadvantages. Everything we do is linked up to technology in one way or another. Now, no one can say he or she can live a normal life without technology cause things which where meant to be easy ends up being difficult. For instance: checking the time, inventions has allowed people to be able to conveniently know the time and without this inventions, it would be totally hard to tell the time. Even in transportation, the car we ride in is a product of technology and it is technology itself. Here are some advantages of technology:
It has broken the barrier of wide range communication. Now, people can communicate freely and easily with one another, no more stress of the post office and mailing and the rest cause everything could be done electronically right at the comfort of your home.
It has improved our standard of living. Now people can place orders, buy and sell, bank and do a lot of stuffs with technology right at the comfort of their homes.
It helps in ensuring security and protection. Now due to cameras, and other security gadgets security and safety has been improved to a great level.
It helps the military and other security agents carry out their missions more appropriately. Now a days, security agents carry out their mission with the use of technology gadgets and this has greatly favored them and earned them victory in their missions.
Disadvantages of Technology
Everything that has advantage also has a disadvantage. Here are some of the disadvantages of Technology:
Crimes: People now go into hacking and other technology based illicit just to make quick money
It has killed the reading culture in children. Children are now engrossed with technological devices which would affect them badly in their studies.
People use it to watch pornographic videos and pictures which has lead to so many peoples doom.
Consequences of the misuse of Technology
It can lead to health problems. People who spend half of their lives on technological gadgets, end up having one side effect or the other. For example: A person who sits on the computer for hours have the tendency of getting an eye defect or back pain etc.
Children get poor grades in their exams as a result of misuse of technological gadgets. Most times, they totally depend on these gadgets for their answers which is totally bad.
It can lead to bad character development. Some children that do use their gadgets to watch violence and other from bad things from the net or other friends end up practicing this bad characters and most times if not well taken care of, forms a bad habit for them which they can not easily get rid of.
Technology has made things very easy for use but we should also use it wisely so as to ensure that we do not get it all wrong and end up suffering the consequences.
