Stephen hawking and his experiment on time travel into the past

For those who love science popularization with some humor, here I bring you a little experiment done by one of the most important scientists of our era, at least from my point of view, Stephen hawking, who for those who do not know, was dedicated to studying the basic laws that govern the universe. In fact, he was the first to work out an equation to try to unify general relativity and quantum physics, a 'theory of everything'. This equation is the so-called black hole temperature formula.

Another important point about him is that, he had a remarkable disability, "Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis" also known as "ALS", it is a progressive disease that affects the motor neurons of the brain and spinal cord, and in Hawking's case, he was diagnosed when he was in his university studies at the age of 21, he lived with it for more than half a century, until the age of 76 when he passed away.

But back to the main point, this was his experiment:

On June 28, 2009 Stephen Hawking hosted a party for time travelers at Cambridge University. The place was decorated with balloons and on the central table there were hors d'oeuvres and champagne (the British physicist's favorite drink). He did not tell anyone about the party and invited everyone after it was over, as the idea was to check the travels into the past. In the invitations he explained the exact coordinates in space and time of the event. When he realized that no one would arrive he exclaimed, "What a pity!".

Personally, I don't think this can prove anything about time travel, because it doesn't necessarily mean that someone would travel from the future to the past to attend your private party, I think there are at least a million things that someone from the future would do in the past before it would cross their mind to go to a party of said person.

But what do you think, should this really prove that time travel could not be real, or do you think the scientist was very naive to think that someone would travel to the past to his private party?

time travel is real, we just don't know it yet.

There is no evidence to support that, yet it cannot be ruled out either. Although technically speaking, you can go back in time to the future but not to the past.
