My Embarrassing Experiences

Every moment that passes is an experience. Experiences are the best life lessons that we can reflect on. Some of these experiences are worthy of keeping but others we tend to discard for the reason that it is painful and can ruin our day. However, there are also some incidents that we want to forget that same moment it happens but recalling them in the future will provide us with joy and amusement.

Everyone has these so-called embarrassing moments in their lives. Some situations could be light and lesser shameful but we may experience intense embarrassment that we just wish to disappear right then and there.

I am going to tell you about some embarrassing experiences in my life. I couldn't stop laughing when I remembered them. This will be reported in the sequence in which it occurred.

1.Underwear

I used to despise wearing underwear with shorts when I was a kid. I was feeling quite hot, and I didn't like it. I feel so uncomfortable wearing them together. That's why, when I wore shorts, I rarely wore underwear. I will not wear underwear sometimes at home and just occasionally at school.

I can still remember when I was 8 years old, Grade 2 to be exact, I was in a hurry going to school because I was late getting up. I was so worried that my teacher will be there ahead of me. Thinking that I was the key-keeper in our classroom, I should be the first one to arrive. If I am late, it will be a great dishonor to me.

The flag ceremony started at exactly 7:45 AM, after the ceremony our teacher instructed us to be in the garden area to pull the weeds and it should last at 9:00 AM. I was with my best friend at that time, she was sitting in front of me. My other classmates were also busy talking and weeding as we are. After a few minutes, my best friend sat beside me and whispered into my ear, "You do not have a panty, I guess you forgot to wear one". My face flushed with embarrassment. I was wearing my favorite dress with floral patterns all over at that time. I remembered feeling so empty earlier and it seems that there was something missing but I cannot really recall what it was. My best friend promised me not to tell even a single soul of what happened. I want to go home, but I don't know what to say to the teacher. If our teacher knew, I would feel so embarrassed.

I have decided to stay in my seat until the class ends. I never played with my classmates that day and if they asked me why I just pretend that I was not feeling well. I was really happy that no one found my little secret that day except my best friend. But unfortunately, a few months passed when we had some misunderstandings my best friend would scare me that she would bother telling my little secret to my classmates. It really annoyed me so much but it was kind of her that she never did.

Right now, when we have time to chit chat with my best friend that underwear incident will always be presented on the table but I just laugh at it since it happened way too long.

2.Blouse

It seems that being out of focus can really ruin what I was doing. It was during high school when I became the leader of our group in cleaning our assigned areas. If you've read my earlier article, you can remember that I was studying in SOM a school for poor children and we strictly followed routinary schedule there. As a leader, I should be the last one to be in the classroom since my job was to check if the areas were all clean and organized. The sisters will regularly check our assigned areas for our cleaning contest rating so, as a leader I need to give my best to achieve an excellent rating.

After checking all the assigned areas, it was my routine to change my upper uniform since it was too wet and dirty. Thinking that I can be punished for being late, I was really in hurry. My classroom was still in the other building so I rushed to go there. Our teacher in the first subject in the afternoon was gay, he really had good humor. He made us laugh all the time that there was no moment in his class that we would never enjoy during his lecture. When I arrived in the classroom, my classmates were all settled but the good thing was, I was not late because it was after a minute when the bell rang. Before sitting in my seat, my teacher called my name and said, "Dear, what planet have you been?". "Were you strayed in the jungle and punished by Maria Makiling?" and my classmates were laughing so hard at those questions. I told him, "Sir I am not yet late" but my classmates continue to laugh and I just laugh too, just to go with the flow. My door mate sitting beside me told me, "You are wearing your blouse upside down". I was really foolish not to notice that basic thing. I was too embarrassed and asked my teacher to excuse me for a while. When I went back into the classroom, they were not laughing at all probably my door mate explained to them how busy I was, to the point that I was out of focus wearing my uniform upside down. lol

3.Pharmacy

I narrated this embarrassing incident in my channel in noise. cash.

When I was still studying in college I was often too busy. There was one time that my youngest son was sick. I was in a hurry from school and I asked the motorbike driver that I would double my fare so that we will not wait for another passenger because usually, the driver will take 2-3 passengers. I asked the driver that he should drop me off first in the pharmacy to buy medicine for my son. In the pharmacy, the clerk gave me a small tray so that I can place there my medicine payment. The queue was quite long so I was worried that I cannot go home soon to tend my son and that I would take so much time for the driver who waited for me. After receiving the medicines, I rushed and walked straight to the driver who waited for me for almost 20 minutes. But suddenly, I heard a loud voice saying "Maam, wait for a while" so I turned my back to see who was calling me and I was shocked that it was the clerk in the pharmacy and I asked her what was the matter. She told me hesitantly, "Maam you bring the small tray with you". And then I looked at my hands, and I said "Oh my gosh this is so embarrassing, I am so sorry Ms. I am really out of my mind. I did not intend to bring this small tray with me, please understand."

I want to disappear right at that moment where I stand because there were people around who witnessed that shameful incident. I instantly became blind and deaf to what they were talking around and I quickly went on my way.

4.My Wedge Sandals

This shameful incident happened last December 2018, it was during the employee's Christmas party. I was really excited because our employer prepared some gifts for us and I was one of the persons who was assigned to prepare the Christmas games. I was wearing a simple dress (I did not forget to wear my underwear lol) partnered with my sandals. I had two pairs of sandals of the same height with almost the same designs but different in colors the other one was black and the other was colored golden yellow.

I was riding my motorbike going to school. The parking area is about 50 meters away from the gate of the building. After arriving in the parking area, I get my stuff like the gifts for my manito and my bag. When I was approaching the gate, I noticed my feet wearing different styles and colors of sandals. I was so scared if there were people especially my colleagues who noticed it. Before they do I rushed to the guardhouse, and leave my stuff there, and informed the attending officer that I will go home because I left something very important. I went back to the parking lot immediately, rushing to go home. When I spot my fuel gauge indicator, I was devastated that my gas was almost empty it can hardly reach home. So, I went to the gas station and the line was too long. I felt that waiting in the queue was an eternity. There was a child about 10 years old behind me, waiting in line with her dad. I could hear clearly, what they were talking about. The child told her dad, "Dad she is wearing different colors of sandals". I was too ashamed to look behind and to show my face, I just pretend not to hear their conversation. Maybe, out of concern, the man behind me told me, "Ms. are you aware that you are wearing different colors of sandals?" I want to melt like a candle and just disappear just right there, I really want to run if given a chance because of embarrassment. I told the man, "Yes Sir that's why I was in a hurry going home". I can sense that he was laughing inside for his expression told me so. What I was relieved about was that none of my friends and acquaintances saw me in that shameful situation.

5.Holding Hands

This incident happened during the city fiesta last September 2019. Every year, we always attend the city fiesta. My husband's aunt always invites us during that occasion. We went to our aunt's house to eat our lunch together with our boys. The city was too crowded that the people cannot even ride their cars nor bicycles. We decided to go to the church after eating. Since the street was too crowded and the church is quite distant from aunt's house, we asked our boys to just stay in the house. The children happily agreed since they enjoyed playing with their cousins. We promised them to buy some toys and they were quite satisfied with the plan. My husband and I will be going to church. We were walking together. We were holding our hands because there were a number of people walking too. We were happily talking on our way to church. Sometimes I walked ahead with my husband because he was too busy looking at the street vendors we have passed. There was a time that I called him to look at some rifle toys and robots for our sons and I told him that we should attend the mass and light some candles first in the church and we could buy some toys after doing so. I was talking stuff and still holding his arm, after some time, I noticed that he stopped walking. I told him, "come on (still holding his arm tightly) we will hurry because the mass is about to start". Since I was walking a little bit ahead of him, I dragged his arm to walk him fast, but he stopped walking. So, I faced him and was about to reprimand him, but what I've said was a loud "Hay". I was dragging some stranger's arm with me. The stranger looked at me with astonishment. What I have said to the stranger was simply "I'm sorry". I never had a chance to explain to him why I was dragging his arm because what was in my mind at that moment was to go so far away because of embarrassment. I looked around and saw my husband still in the toy store inquiring about the prices of the toys. I pinch and punch his arm telling him how embarrassed I was dragging a stranger's arm thinking it was his.

Closing thoughts

We can never prevent embarrassment to happen to us. It will just come naturally that we will never know it will. Those embarrassing experiences that happened to us might give us intense shame and thinking a lot that we are a fool but despite that, we can definitely say that those experiences give us some lessons to be careful next time so that we will not act like a fool and we will never be in those situations once again.

I can say that my embarrassing experiences taught me life lessons, to accept those things willingly and it made me realize that my life is not perfect and I ought to make some mistakes and unconscious foolishness. Aside from that these experiences will be the source of laughter and amusement during get-togethers or gatherings with friends.
