Khaled Hosseini was born in 1965 in Kabul, Afghanistan. His father was a diplomat in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan, and his mother taught farce and history at a large high school in Kabul. The foreign ministry sent his family to Tehran in 1970, where his father worked at the Afghan embassy.

They lived in Tehran until 1973, when they returned to Kabul. In July 1973, the night Hosseini's youngest brother was born, Afghan King Zahir Shah was overthrown in a coup d'état organized by the king's cousin Daud Khan without blood. At that time, Hosseini was in the fourth grade, and he had already discovered literature and was fascinated by the numerous books he read.In 1976, the Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs once again moved Hosseini's family, this time to Paris. They were ready to return to Kabul in 1980, but by then Afghanistan had already experienced a bloody communist coup and an invasion by the Soviet army. The Hosseini sought and obtained political asylum from the United States. Hosseini's family moved to San Jose, California, in September 1980. His father worked several jobs at the same time and managed to provide for his family's life without social assistance. Khaled Hosseini graduated in 1984 and enrolled at the University of Santa Clara, where he graduated in undergraduate studies in biology in 1988. The following year, he enrolled at the San Diego School of Medicine, University of California, where he graduated in 1993. He completed an internship at Cedar Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles and in 1996 began practicing internal medicine. However, his first love was always writing.Quotes that I like.

1. "It is better to be hurt by the truth than to be comforted by lies."

2. “When you kill a man, you steal someone's life. You stole a woman's right to a husband, you stole a father to a child. When you tell a lie, you have stolen someone's right to the truth. When you cheat, you steal someone's right to honesty. ”

3. "Children are not coloring books, you can't paint them with your favorite colors."

4. "Of all the difficulties one faces, nothing punishes more than waiting."

5. "It may not be fair, but something that happens in just a few days, or even in a single day, can change the direction of your entire life so far…"

6. "A society has no chance of success if women in that society are uneducated."

7. "There's a way to be good, again."

8. “There is one funny thing… but most people hide it. They think they live their lives the way they want. However, what leads them is what they are afraid of. What they don't want. ”

9. "A man who has no conscience, has no goodness, does not suffer."

10. “The fact of people saying everything they think. They think others are doing the same. "

Hosseini has vivid, tender and beautiful memories of the peaceful pre-Soviet era of Afghanistan, as well as his personal experiences with the Afghan Khazars (tribes in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iran). One Khazar had a special influence on little Khaled - it was a thirty-year-old named Hussein Khan, who worked for the Hosseins while they lived in Iran. When Khaled was in third grade, he taught Kana to read and write. Although his relationship with Hussein Khan was short-lived and more formal, Khaled always remembered the warmth and affection that developed between them - the relationship that was reflected in his first novel, The Dragon Hunter. In 2006, Hosseini was appointed goodwill ambassador for the UNHCR, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. Inspired by a trip to Afghanistan as an UNHCR ambassador, he founded the non-profit Khaled Hosseini Foundation for Humanitarian Aid to Afghans. He lives in Northern California.
