Why going to school is important?

Sadly today, many people will give you many countless reasons why you should probably not go to school. In most developing countries where there are high levels of unemployment. Many believed that in the fact that menial jobs with little or no education are being done by the majority of the people or citizens with a lesser percentage of people controlling the nation's wealth. In a typical country like Nigeria, it's easy for a first-class graduate from school with a good degree to be employed by an uneducated fellow. We have many people who are currently underworking in their current place of work. You see a chemistry graduate working totally outside his or her field of work mainly because there is no correct way or standard by which graduates can channel their knowledge into the correct field of work. You see a graduate of the Agricultural Department working in a bank. What about the graduates who are specially trained to work in those banks? They couldn't gain employment and some have to work as teachers in schools.

Likewise, the proceeds from being educated in countries like Nigeria have not been rewarding for most people. Here, some uneducated people or persons who didn't go to school are better off than many educated people. I have the opportunity of listening to an old man: a friend of my dad who was well to do but didn't have formal education. This man believes that formal education is a waste of money and believes that learning vocational skills can help a person a lot. Well, vocational skills aren't bad in themselves. However, he was of the wrong notion to think that formal education is a waste of money. He always backed up his claims by showing off the numbers of cars and houses he has built while some educated people are still struggling to make it.

Formal education goes beyond making people rich. It also liberates their mind in many things. With a good formal education, you have an optimal state of mind in which you can think more clearly and differently than the uneducated. When you are educated, you develop yourself more than those who didn't go to school. You have many ways of solving problems than the uneducated because of the mind exposure you have.

Rather than discrediting those that went to school, it's only wise if you follow the same suit and empower yourself through education. Some places in life are not reserved for the uneducated. You can't work as a bank manager if you are not educated, you will just be settled for fewer jobs that are menial and don't require high skills or training and which of course pay less. If you are not literate enough to be able to read or write, you may sign your dead-end to a literate person unknowingly. Many have signed that their properties be acquired by others without even them knowing because they can't read what's on the paper and they lose all the years of their hard work in such a second because they couldn't read.

But if you go to school and learn how to read and write, you will be able to avert such a situation, isn't it?.
