My Splinterlands journey: Week 4 - Is it possible to make a profit with this game?
This article was originally published on peakd almost 2 months ago. I'm trying to catch up on read.cash and will post updates later.
Hello everyone! This is the first post of what I hope to be a weekly blog about my journey in Splinterlands.
I've been into crypto and blockchain for a few years and while looking for new things about 6 months ago, I came across this video game called Splinterlands. Apparently it was the best blockchain game out there and I read a lot of good things about it but unfortunately there was one problem - I really HATE card games! The only card game I loved was Tetra Master, the minigame from Final Fantasy IX and that was a long time ago.
2 months later I decided to sign up but it was only 3 months later that I started playing. I played my first game one month ago.
Remember I told you I hated card games? Well... I love Splinterlands!
I love it so much that I decided to share my progress with you. I will show you my statistics, my rewards, my profits and losses and much more. It will allow me to track my progress and you will see if this game is really profitable.
Money spent and profit
As you can see, I'm not a whale. I "only" spent about $273 and I spent the most money on the lands. This was my first purchase, I even bought them before playing my first game. I only bought 10 lands because I wasn't even sure if I'd like the game or not. I wish I had bought more now.
I would also like to point out that I bought all of this with the WAX I earned from others games. So I see Splinterlands as an investment.
Now, according to PeakMonsters, my collection is worth $155.02 right now (using market prices).
Let's do some quick math! I spent $272.71 and my collection is valued at $155.02. Don't forget that I bought $200 worth of lands. They're basically useless right now. So for now, I will post my profit with and without lands.
Total profit: -$117.69 (lands included) / $82.31 (lands not included)
As you can see, I made about $82 in one month. It's not much, but it's still better than nothing!
My statistics
I managed to reach Silver I this season thanks to the Kron/Llama combo and a guildmate who delegated power to me so I can receive Silver I rewards.
Unfortunatly, once he got his cards back I was gaining only 2-3 points per win and losing about 35 points per defeat. So, it was basically impossible to keep or increase my rating.
As you can see, I really need more cards and power. I only have 15350 power according to PeakMonsters.
My 2 most valuable cards are Mimosa Nightshade (est. value $24) and Scarred Llama Mage (est. value $90), 2 legendary summoners.
My objectives
Reach Gold Rank
Reach 40000 power
Buy some Azmaré dices
Get more SPS Airdrop points
Buy a few hundred Chaos Legion packs when available
So my next objective is reaching gold, but for that I really need more power. I know it's easy and cheap to rent cards but I also want to use my own cards. That's why I'd like to buy Azmaré dices. Unfortunatly, it's not possible to buy them using WAX.
I also want to increase my SPS airdrop points before the airdrop at the end of the month. Right now, this is what I'll get:
That's it for today! I hope I didn't write all this for nothing.😃If you see any typos or mistakes, please feel free to tell me in the comment section. Thanks!
