That night, from a hidden spot in the graveyard, Tom and Huck watched a fight had broken out among the grave robbers Injun Joe, the drunkard Muff Potter, and Dr. Robinson. Injun Joe stabbed the doctor and then framed Muff for the crime. The boys were so scared of Injun Joe that they vowed to never tell anyone.
To forget the tremendous night scene, Tom decided to go on Jackson's Island along with Joe and Huck without notifying their family. The enjoyed their time swimming, catching fish, cooking food, and so on. One night Tom secretly returned to St. Petersburg and found Aunt Polly along with Joe's Mother were crying, thinking them drowned.
