Taaffeite

Taaffeite was discovered as a cut stone found in Sri Lanka in the year 1945. Taaffeite is around $35,000 per carat, taaffeite looks like a mavve-colored spinel.

Grandidierite

It was discovered by Alfred Grandidier in the southern Madagascar in the year 1902. Grandidierite is around $20,000 per carat. It is a very rare gem looks like a pearly semitransparent bluish green in color.

Serendibite

Was discovered by Dunil Palitha Gunasekera from Sri Lanka in the year 1902. Serendibite is around $18,000 per carat. The cyan colored stone serendibite name comes from the old Arabic name.

Diamond

Was discovered by a 15-years old Eramus Jacobs in the south bank of orange river belongs to South Africa in the year 1867. Diamond is around $15,000 per carat. Diamonds are found in cooked kimberlites that formed the course of 1 to 3 billion years.

Thank you @Sixto for this article. You really take me back to GLY 201- Introduction to Mineralogy, a course I did in second year in my university days. I have never come across the Moussaieff Red Diamond in literatures, it is very recently discovered. I am very conversant with the other four as a Geologist/ Mineralogist. Thanks.
