The Great Wall of China, one of the most prominent archaeological and historical monuments in the world, which is a series of walls that were built in northern China

"Believe it or not, the Great Wall of China can be seen from the surface of the moon."

How true is this statement, and who is the first claimant? Why is it so stuck in people's minds? And most of all, what do astronomers and specialists think of this sentence in scientific terms? We will know now, but let's give a quick overview of this surah.

Great Wall of China

The Great Wall of China, one of the most prominent archaeological and historical monuments in the world, is a series of walls that were built in northern China to protect and fortify against enemy invasions. All Chinese ruling families took care of this wall, as its construction was completely finished nearly 500 years ago, knowing that its construction had begun before the birth of Christ.

Despite the widespread belief that the Great Wall of China is old, but it is not very old, as most accounts indicate that the beginning of the construction process was after the year (221) BC, specifically in the period when the unification of China began for the first time in its history, and its construction ended In the Ming Dynasty (1358-1644). Thus, we find that the age of the Great Wall of China does not exceed (500) years. And not as many people thought, there are some prevailing beliefs about it, including that it was built in prehistoric times, and that its age exceeds thousands of years, and these are all pure beliefs that have no validity.

Estimates differ about the length of the wall, as there are those who claim that it is between (1500) to (5000) miles, while the archaeological survey conducted by the China Administration of Cultural Heritage in 2012 indicated that the length of the wall is about (13000) miles, meaning that it is It is more than twice longer than ancient estimates, so it's no wonder this mighty edifice is nearly 2,000 years old. The wall of China is usually called “the Great,” and surprisingly, the Chinese do not call it that way, but rather a long wall.

Among the misconceptions about the wall is that it was built to repel the attacks of the Mongols, but in fact this is a big mistake, as it was ordered to build the wall in (221) BC, while the Mongols had appeared after about (800) years AD. But despite the strength of the wall, the invaders were able to overcome it when China attacked the northern tribes, and the wall did not protect them, or the Chinese could not use it well.

There is no doubt that building the wall required a great effort, and there are even some rumors alleging that workers' bodies fell while working, as the work was so arduous that people died. But these rumors are not true, as there are no bodies buried near the wall, as some have claimed.

Robert Ripley ... the biggest liar in the world

When you open the newspapers, on the last pages - for the most part - you will find interesting paragraphs, including: crossword puzzles, and believe it or not. Many people enjoy a paragraph, believe it or not, especially, as it contains strange information that may not actually be believed, the author of this idea is Robert Ripley, the English cartoonist who lived in the last century.

Ripley has been dubbed the biggest liar in the world, having made his fortune through numerous misinformation. Unfortunately, this information was not based on accurate scientific evidence. Perhaps the most prominent of this information is that we humans can see the Great Wall of China from outer space, as it was claimed that it is the only man-made work that the human eye can see from outer space. And this idea has taken root in many people's minds. But what is the truth of this information?

Can we really see the Great Wall of China from outer space?

In (2003 AD), there was a great event in China. The first Chinese space flight ascended into outer space, and astronaut Yang Liwei said that he could not see anything from orbit. He did not see the wall of China as is the prevailing belief, and thus scientific evidence emerged that nullifies the claim of Robert Ripley, the world's greatest liar. In addition, the astronauts who landed on the moon for the first time in the Apollo mission were unable to see anything about the wall from the surface of the moon. In (2012), the Canadian astronaut repeated the experiment, and spent (5) months on the International Space Station and confirmed that the Great Wall of China is invisible.

On the other hand, the American astronaut Leroy Qiao indicated that he was already able to see the Great Wall of China from the window of the International Space Station in 2004, but added that he did not see it with the naked eye, but rather after using a zoom lens. Some cities can be seen from space, but cities as a whole, not specific regions in them, due to their lights that appear clearly from outer space.

Despite the capabilities that humans have shown in recent times, they could not build anything that the naked eye could capture from outer space, and the Apollo flight astronauts stated that the Earth only shows a blue color mixed with land.

Thus, we find in our hands scientific evidence proving that the Great Wall of China, the tallest building on Earth, which consumed human energy for its construction for two thousand years, does not appear from outer space, not from the surface of the moon, or even from the low orbits of the planet. A lie appears, the biggest liar in the world, after he threw this confusing information to us and left us confused and died. But is he really a liar? He said believe it or not. That is, he did not confirm the information, but compiled it and left it to us. Robert did not know that humans would cling to this information, and even many spaceflight flights were keen to confirm it.
