The growing popularity of medicinal has caught the interest of local Barangays, Municipal/Provincial Governments, Student groups, Civic Organizations and the like. Herbal medicine gardens began to sprout in Barangays, School Campuses and backyards. Contest also were conducted by Civic groups. Even health clinics began prescribing medicines either in prepared formulations or dosages from raw plants taken from the community. The School and it's concerned agencies initiated training programs in the regions with a view to promoting the program to local readers and medical practitioners . The School target is to set up regional production plant for the manufacture of drugs out of these plants so that people in the regions will have easy access to cheap medicines.
Recommended Medicine Plants
Thus far, of over 1,000 species of indigenous plants known in the country for their medicinal uses, the few that have already been clinically tested in laboratories are already recommended for home cures. Based on reports from different research teams, priority studies are being given to plant with potential as antitusives, antiasthmatics, analgesics, anti-diarrhea, antispasmodies, and thelminthics, antihypersensitive, anti-diabetics, diuretics, antifungal, etc. since these are the more popularly sought remedies for common symptoms. Some of the plants already use among medical practitioners and dispensed or clinics soon on my next article, the herbal cures.
