Millions of years ago, creatures of the kind you can only see today in Game of Thrones were actually alive and floating in the sky. Let's examine these creatures grouped under the name pterosaur.

Quetzalcoatlus

It is one of the largest flying creatures ever known in the world. It is estimated to have a wingspan of 10-14 meters. It is thought to weigh 200-250 kg. in simulations calculated to be able to cross the ocean using air currents in a single flight.

Imagine that you witnessed this animal. When it is placed, it becomes like a giraffe. Imagine such an animal gliding from afar and landing on the roof of the building in front of you. game of thrones, lotr kinds of epic fantasy literature took place in our world and we missed it.

Hatzegopteryx

The gigantic pharaoh (flying reptile), most of whose bones were found in the Transylvania region of Romania, is among the largest (and perhaps the largest) flying creatures that ever lived. Its wingspan reaches 10 meters.

The wingspan of this pterosaur is larger than that of many small-medium aircraft today. It is known that they ruled the sky 67 million years ago with their close cousin, the genus "quetzalcoatlus". While there are many theories regarding the decline of these species, the most widely accepted are those based on the fact that the birds began to lose their range with the rise.

Pteranodon

one of the large pterosaurs with a wing length of up to 8 meters from one end to the other. The bony comb on the back of its head is thought to act as a rudder. Like other flying reptiles, they flew using their taut skin as wings. It is estimated that they mostly hunt the fish they see by flying over the water like a glider.

An overview of pterosaurs

Pterosaur is also used instead of the word pterosaur. They are synonyms.

Pterosaur means flying reptile-flying dinosaur. These extinct flying rodents lived in the Mesozoic Era, from 248 million years ago to 65 million years ago. Fossils have been found on all continents.

Contrary to popular belief, pterosaurs are a separate group of animals from flying dinosaurs. While "pterosaurs" is a reptile class, "dinosaurs" is a superorder in the reptile class, which includes the "bird-hipped dinosaurs" and "lizard-hipped dinosaurs".

Flying reptiles, the youngest fossils of which have ever been discovered in the world, were found in Brazil. Fossils belonging to a total of 47 different individuals were found in sediments that probably formed in a desert-like environment about 90 million years ago (late Cretaceous). new findings show that this group of creatures lived collectively - in colonies - and that pterosaurs were able to fly at a young age. however, "flying" is not meant to stay in the air for long periods as in birds, but to take off only for short intervals as seen in turkeys.
