Our Small But Happy Community

I would like to introduce the place where I am living. A small village but with big smiles in every home. The houses are small but each house has big dreams. Dreaming of successful and happy life.

Wave Back When

I remember the days before we moved here. We used to moved house from one place to another. We rented before that is why I can say that our life is harder before compared now.

Many years passed until one of my sister planned to buy a house and lot for us since she she has work.

It was almost 20 years ago when we moved here in our community.

I remember the night I first saw our house. My family moved here first because I still have school that time so I stayed with my Auntie for a week. It was almost vacation and after that, I moved to our new house also.

It was scary at that night I entered here because it was a new.subdivision only. There were only few people who lived at that time. We were only using temporary electricity which is too weak. Only few appliances can function. The lights were not bright. There were no street lights so you need your own flashlight on your way home.

You can either walk or ride a tricycle when you enter the road in our village. If it is dark, you need to ride a tricyxle but yoi have to wait for 3 passengers more before it runs. But it almost took less than 1 hour to complete the passengers. You will only pay 3 pesos each.

But if you want a special ride, you need to pay about 12 pesos which was expensive at that time. I was a student then.

I also remember the place of basketball court when it was not there. It was filled with soil and I remember there were carabaos at night. The village was too dark at night.

The road going to our community was not cemented. It was filled with soil so if it is raining, it is hard to pass by because of thick muds. Only few vehicles passed there and there were no street lights outside the road as far I could remember.

In the morning, it is much better because you can see the few people living there. More houses were empty and it was too quiet but as months and years passed by, many people were moving here.

Now

All houses were occupied Some were renting while some owned it already because of the 25-year contract.

Some houses were reconstructed. Houses have only same structure before with only 1 storey and it is up to the owner how they want it to be reconstructed.

Now, some houses have 2nd or 3rd floors. They have budget to reconstruct it. You can see beautiful houses and some have cars too.

If you will see our small village, it is a happy place. People are business minded because they have their own business. Most of us have "sari-sari" stores invluding us. I remember the time when our neighbor which was three houses apart from us, also put up a store. They almost blocked the people who used to buy from us before. Then, they closed but the house beside us, put up a store, too. It was really challenging because aside from us, there were a lot of stores around the village.

Until now, we have many competitors.

Aside from it, there were different business here like grilling, selling street foods like siomai, french fries, fish balls etc.," other "meriendas", drinks and even "ice candies" which kids usually bought.

If you enter our community, you will notice a lot of kids especially now that it is not that strict. In every streets, there are many children playing and running. In every street, you can see people.

One of the kids playing outside is my son. He really enjoys playing outside with his playmates and I allow him during afternoon to let him interact with other kids and not focused with gadgets.

But it is also dangerous because of the vehicles going in and out of the village. There are many tricycles, bicycles and cars passing.

The basketball court is very big and beautiful. It is now covered and newly painted.

Every Sunday, there is a mass inside. There is a stage where the mass is held. The basketball court is now open for all. Some are playing basketball and some are volleyball. This is also where meetings and other events are held. One side of the court is a day care center for kids which is currently in modular set up.

The road outside our village is now cemented and a lot of vehicles are passing on everyday. It is now traffic and It is better to walk than ride because of the traffic if you don't carry anything heavy.

My Final Say

Happiness does not depend on your wealth. It depends on how you enjoy your life no matter how rich or hard it is.

Life needs to be enjoyed every single day with our family.

Some lived in mansions or exclusive villages but they were not happy compared to people living in urban places. They focused more on how to be more wealthy.

While those in small villages, they enjoy what they have but still continue with their dreams.

I considered our community as a place to stay for good and for the best We have our sad and good memories here but life goes on.

This is our place, our home.

Happy reading everyone!!

Nice to know your village is developing and are united. Happiness is a thing of the mind and a choice too. Once you can choose to be happy regardless of whether you have all you want or not, then you'll realise how happy you'll be and peace of mind that comes with it.
