When we hear the word hero, most of us think about superman, wonderwoman, green lantern, ironman and etc. who had superpowers. But let me change your mindsets, there's a hero everywhere, we can see them, but most of us didn't appreciate their efforts. They are the animals, yes! animals.

Butterflies

When we see these organisms flying in our backyards or gardens, we firstly thought that they were nothing, only an insect having a beautiful patterns on their wings. But change your mind now, they were heroes of our environment, because they help to pollinate a number of plants in our surroundings.

Bees

These little heroes has a vital role in our nature, they are great pollinators, about one-third of world's food depends on pollination. When the bees are flying around, busy from buzzing plant to plant, just thank them.

Rats

When we here the word rats, the first thimg that comes in our mind is they were pests. But maybe this will change your mind. In other countries, rats were trained to sniff out landmines and bombs on the ground. Because of their sense of smell, they were trained to become landmine detectors, more efficient and better than metal detectors. We should thank them because these guys do their part to protect us.

Squirrels

The tree planters. Look around when you are walking in your backyards, garden or even in a park. You can see a lot of trees, and some of those trees grow because of the squirrels, they stash their nuts and these little guys aren't able to recall where they store their food, which is allowing the nuts to have and take a roots and grow into trees. Maybe there are no squirrels here in Philippines, but we should thank them because they helps balancing our nature.

Bats

The heroes of the night, bats. Maybe some of us didn't see their actions to help the mother earth. But believe me, they are real warriors especially at night. They are expert in slaying insects at night and can eat up to hundreds an hour. This actions can control the bug population and also it protect the crops. They can really help the nature and also us, their saliva was used for the stroke victims and their ability to ecolocate is being studied to help the blind people.

Frogs

These amphibians really helps our ecosystem, we can see them everywhere hopping and hopping all the time, but they were not just spend their times to hop all day, they were taking down bugs or insects everywhere and it can really helps in controlling the insect population.

Planktons

When we hear the word plankton, the first thing that comes in our mind is the supervillain in the cartoon spongebob hahaha, the supervillain who's really interested and very determined to steal the secret formula from Mr. Crab hahaha. But that was only a fiction, a cartoon series. Without planktons, maybe there would be half the oxygen in the world today. These microscopic organisms also breaks down organic matter in the water and also an expert in recycling dead animals.

Closing Thoughts

There are lot of animals that wasn't mentioned above yet, but we should be thankful to them. Most of us didn't see their actions, and ignore them easily. We didn't see and appreciate their efforts. Animals do their best to become responsible to their role in our ecosystem, they help us to balance the nature. I can say that in some aspects of life, they are better than us. Why? Because most of us did an activity that can harm our environment like illegal mining, illegal logging, using dynamite for fishing and many more. While the animals do their roles in our nature and I can say that they are the true heroes of the Earth.
