The wolf (Canis lupus[a]), also referred to as the grey wolf or grey wolf, is a large canine local to Eurasia and North America. More than thirty subspecies of Canis lupus were recognized, and grey wolves, as colloquially understood, comprise non-home/feral subspecies. The wolf is the most important extant member of Canidae, adult males averaging 40 kg (88 lb) and women 37 kg (82 lb). Wolves measure one zero five–a hundred and sixty cm (41–sixty three in) in length and eighty–eighty five cm (31–33 in) at shoulder peak. The wolf is also distinguished from other Canis species by using its much less pointed ears and muzzle, as well as a shorter torso and a longer tail. The wolf is however related carefully enough to smaller Canis species, consisting of the coyote and the golden jackal, to provide fertile hybrids with them. The banded fur of a wolf is commonly mottled white, brown, grey, and black, even though subspecies within the arctic place can be nearly all white.
