Utilize your regular spending to be rewarded in crypto. If you’re curious about crypto but consider it risky this could be a relatively harmless way to get a foot in the door
If you’re already a fan of cash back rewards these are the same idea but pay out in crypto rather than fiat.
Cash App - Square’s answer to Venmo, this app has weekly “Boosts” which reward you with 5% back as Bitcoin. The categories I use most often are 5% back at any restaurant and 5% back at any coffee shop. You do not have to go to a specific brand of coffee shop like Starbucks which is awesome. The reward is capped at $7.50 ($150 spent) each Boost but they refresh weekly. I’m sneaky and max out to $150 each week by buying gift cards to my favorite restaurants. They also have more specific deals for Uber, Xbox Live, Playstation Network and a handful of others. I have confidence in Cash App because Square is not just some beatnik company.
You don’t have to worry about paying off the interest on Cash App because it is not a credit card, rather a secured debit card. You have to load it from your bank before spending with it. My crypto goal is to build a position without any direct investment and rather just stacking up rewards. This helps me subside fear of risk and volatility. Who cares about the wild swings in the market when your position was paved by eating sushi rolls in the first place!

Crypto.com - This one is a Visa brand credit card that pays flat percentage rewards back on all spending (not categories.) Because it is a credit card Crypto.com has the additional risk of charging you interest if you do not pay your bill off in full each month. If you are on top of your spending however check it out as it can be useful in categories that your cash back card offers underwhelming reward percentages on.
Crypto.com is also a crypto exchange (place to buy sell and trade crypto) so it may be less beginner friendly. Crypto.com offers an underwhelming 1% crypto back unless you secure a line of credit with collateral, however there are several options ranging from 1% to 8% back. I’m on the modest 2% Ruby level. In all honesty I have confidence in this because of Visa and not the Crypto.com site. I use Visa (through Chase) for my normal cash back cards and have never had a problem with them. While crypto exchanges lend themselves to shady impressions my confidence in Visa balances that out.
