At the beginning of the 17th century at the end of the Ming Dynasty, in a small village called Fuzhou there lived a man named Meng Bo. He is a very devoted person to his parents. Meng Bo lives alone with his mother. His mother's condition, which was getting old, made her unable to eat hard food, including meat. Because his teeth are starting to become brittle and fall out.

Meng Bo, who knew that his mother liked to eat meat, became sad to see this condition. He was confused to think of various ways how to process meat so that his mother could eat it. Once, Meng Bo saw his neighbor pounding glutinous rice to make mochi cakes.

This is where an idea came from. Meng Bo took the meat from the kitchen and ground it the same way his neighbors make mochi. After the meat was tender, Meng Bo shaped it into small balls so that his mother could eat it easily. After the small balls were formed, then he boiled the dough until it smelled the delicious aroma of meat.

Meng Bo served the meatballs to his mother. The mother was happy because it was not only easy to eat, but also very delicious. Meng Bo was very happy to see his mother being able to eat meat again. The story of Meng Bo being so devoted to his mother and his recipe for meatballs quickly spread throughout the city of Fuzhou. It is said that this is where the locals finally came to learn how to make delicious meatballs from Meng Bo.

Many think that meatballs are a typical Indonesian food, when in fact the origin of meatballs is from China, even so, this food is still one of the favorites of a million people. The word bakso itself consists of two words. In hockey language, "bak" means pork is "so" food. So, bakso are processed foods from pork.

Because in Indonesia itself the majority of the population is Muslim, so the meatballs themselves are processed using beef, fish or shrimp.
