There goes the proverb that "God made the village and man made the town." Actually village life is free from urban complexities and unrest. The natural beauty of the villages is exceptional. The villagers spend such an ordinary life. The whole country is covered with many beautiful villages.

There was a time when life in a village of Bangladesh was a life of peace and happiness. Most people then lived in villages. The villagers led their life in peace and the villages were the centre of health, wealth and happiness.

But those good old days are gone. Now life of the village people is full of misery. They are mostly poor and illiterate. They suffer from various diseases. Villages are now full of dirty politics. There are quarrels, litigations and strives. The peace-loving people sometimes run to town for relief.

Nevertheless village life in Bangladesh still has some advantages. The climate of most of the villages is still wholesome. There we get fresh air to enjoy. There is good supply of fresh vegetables and milk in villages which we do not get in town. Most villages still retain their natural beauty. The rivers, the cornfields and the large green trees of our villages still offer sights of charm and beauty.

In spite of the healthy climate and the natural beauty, rural society suffers from different disadvantages. There are very few sources of income in our villages. Hence the village people are generally poor. There is no scope of standard education in villages. So most people live darkness of ignorance.

Communication is very backward. During the rainy season paths and roads go under water in many areas of the country. Then people cannot move freely Village life in Bangladesh lacks many facilities of modern life.

Still it has some simplicity and is free from many evils of modern complex life. Villagers are still united with strong bonds of affection, love and fellow-feeling and in times of danger they stand by one another.
