YouTube was launched in 2005. It was founded by three PayPal employees: Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, and Jawed Karim, who ran the company from a (de rigueur) small office above a small restaurant in a small Californian city.From these humble beginnings, YouTube has gone on to become one of the world’s most ubiquitous apps – the natural home of the short-video format so prevalent in today’s media landscape.
