Karbala is a lesson from blood. The single event of Karbala teaches us a lot of lesson that we can even implement in our daily life. They are as follows

1)  The first, foremost and the most important lesson is never bow down  in front of a cruel  and bloodthirsty person just like Hussain PBUH stand in front of Yazeed. That's the sign of faith. That's the sign of courage. That's the sign of chivalry and gallantry.  Do you think the person with low conviction can do this ? Never ever. Only those can stand who have a strong faith. Thomas Carlyle said “The best lesson which we get from the tragedy of Karbala is that Husain PBUH and his companions were the rigid believers of God.   So you should take a stand because  not standing against cruelty is also cruelty.

2) The  Next vital lesson is patience in adversity .Allah tells us in the Holy Qur’an that only those who remain patient will receive reward without measure.  Allah says in the Qur'an chap 2 verse number 153 " God is with those who are patient in adversity". Imam Hussain PBUH, a living example of what the Qur’an taught, was happy to “remain patient” in hardship and endurance and to await his Lords reward. His patience wasn’t out of weakness or helplessness, but it was a demonstration of his steadfastness and bravery. Those who saw the Imam on the day of Ashura reported. “We have never seen a man remaining as composed as Imam Hussain PBUH, whereas his relatives and children were slaughtered before his eyes.”

3)  The next prime lesson is La ilaha illah. There is not God but Allah. If there is no God then we should not worship and accept other God. We should believe in only monotheism not polytheism. Anything that is not according to Allah's will, message, nature, order, plan we should not accept all these. Hussain PBUH refused to give allegiance to Yazid who was a adulterer .  That's why he denied allegiance .How a Muslim can accept  heartless and hellish person like Yazid? We can't. You believe in only one God and you should accept whatever is according to HIS words. Muslims works for the Islam and they the ambassador of Islam.

4)  The next chief lesson that we can apply in our life is you should have self-control. What do I mean?  I mean make sure you can survive even when you are devoid of one of the main element of life like water. Shams Tabrezi in his book " Me and Rumi"  mentions that he used to stay hungry for many days and in this way he developed self control. When Sham's parents said to him you are getting weak day by day he replied " My strength is such if you want I ll fly like a bird out the window".  Whenever you  are devoid of basic necessities of life make sure you even then thank God like Hussain PBUH and you welcome the obstacles comes in your life whole heartedly like Hussain  PBUH did.  And biggest jihad is controlling oneself. So you can

5)  Quantity does not matter but faith does. How much you have believe in Allah it matters. Whenever you have a strong conviction in Allah then 313 Muslims can beat 1000 infidels in battle of Badr and 72 soldiers can take a stand against 4000-5000 soldiers like Hussain PBUH stand against Yazid army. That's the game of faith not number. In order to elaborate this I wanted to add quote of Mahatma Gandhi who once said "If I had an army like the 72 soldiers of Hussain PBUH, I would have won freedom for India in 24 hour". Whenever Muslims won battles it's not because of number it's because of courage. We can also Believe in this philosophy in our daily life. Belief matters.

6)  Don't be  afraid and scared to lose the ones you love . Imam Hussain  PBUH lose his  half brothers,  sons, daughters, wife and companions. Only one thing is important that is your goal. Hussain PBUH left everything for his goal .what's the goal? The aim is to only preach the message of  Allah and to preach that there would be only one empire of Allah . Hence, Don't be afraid to lose them. For the sake of Allah you have to give sacrifices like Hussain gave.

7)  Next  decisive lesson is never accept humiliation and  mortification. Self respect is important.  Never compromise on self worth.  Bend only in front of God and not in front of  brutal and barbarous person like Yazeed  . Seek help only from God.  You are the crown of creation and you can't accept embarrassment. In one of his speeches, Imam Hussain (peace be upon him) said that the authorities in Kufa had given him only two options: humiliation or death. He carried on saying, “And we do not accept humiliation. A tradition reported by Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) records that, other than not accepting humiliation, Almighty Allah has given to believers a choice in all matters. Furthermore, Hussain PBUH said " Death with dignity is preferable to a life lived in humiliation". And he did everything for the sake of Islam.

8)  Last but not the  least,  the lesson is never afraid of death. Death is not an ultimate loss. Muslims believe "we belong to Allah and we ll return to him ". Then why are you afraid?  You also know life is mortal then why you are scared? You also know everyone has to go . Then why you are horrified and terrified from demise? Muslim should not be frightened of demise but non Muslims should. Guess why? Because death is the greatest loss of non Muslims but for Muslims it's equal to martyrdom and this is the biggest honour  for Muslims . So never afraid decease.  In his farewell to relatives in Medina, the Imam Hussain PBUH said: “Whoever joins us will be martyred, those who remain behind will miss the victory.” History still bears witness Hussain is still alive and Yazeed is no more.
