“Bold” Predictions On Ethereum

Recent title of an article on the homepage of CNBC:

‘Coins like ethereum are going to be a lot higher way down the road,’ market forecaster Jim Bianco says.

To be clear, the parenthesis in my title is meant to denote sarcasm. I guess this is the type of hard-hitting financial news people that watch CNBC tune in for. After being on Publish0x, read.cash and other sites for a little while now, I see why this type of site is needed. You can spend an hour here and learn more about crypto, NFT, blockchain and the technology coming out than a year watching/reading major news sites.

Now, if you look at my post, you will see a lot of humor and post that lack real crypto depth, I admit it. I like to have a little fun. My rant on this type of reporting showing up on a home page is that it is the type of information that adds nothing to conversation and does little to help anyone understand the cryptoverse. Actually, it attracts the FOMO crowd and only brings about the up and downs he is predicting. Self-fulfilling reporting, so to speak. And if you want to read (and I don't see why you would) the article is linked below, but it doesn't dig deeper than the title, it is just for clicks.

Let’s take a look at few other quotes from the Article, my thoughts in parenthesis:

“That’s got a lot of promise, and that’s really what’s significant,” he said. “The problem is the other driver is kind of an out-of-control casino with people betting on these coins going up and down.” (Maybe a clickbait headline like this might bring on the gamblers.)

He suggests “It’s also key to have exposure to crypto because the space is showing more ties to other risk assets including stocks.” (What? You should invest in crypto because it is tracking stocks? Not only is this false, it makes no sense.)

Anyway, my point is that the vast majority of people looking at crypto are reading articles like this and not getting information on sites like Publish0x or Leo. It will continue to be an issue, as by definition this is dumb money coming into a still emerging market.

At best, we should hope for people to reach my level of understanding which is I have very little understanding of most of crypto, but, I read and follow people that do and invest with that in mind.

Thanks for reading.
