Junior Airmen in an Ambush

Two villages Fubor and Natong were located in Jos, Plateau State. The horizon of the weather is like Mt.Rainier in Washington during the month of December. It has a hilly home of Highland ascending to its peak and Lowland for the sneak.

For the past ten years, Junior Airmen(JAM) of Air Force Military School Jos have been assigned to participate in bush camp exercises in Fubor and Natong as part of their yearly Military training event. The purpose of the camp is to train the Junior Airmen on the principles of War.

Mission Of the Exercise: Fubor and Natong is an economic State in the Republic of Banana that was been held and controlled by Rebels known as (Demo Squad). Their motives is to seize and control the resources and also create anarchy in the state. The Republic of Banana's government assigned troops (jam) from the Airforce Military School jos to capture and defend Fubor and Natong, which were in the hands of the rebels (Demo squad).

Our objectives were to advance, attack, defend, and retreat. We advance and attack the enemy with an effective fire of FN-Rifle LAR blank amour . We succeeded in seizing the fobur/Natong state held by the Demo squad, but the battle wasn't over at that point.

The major and subsequent line of our mission was defence. JAM was divided into five companies ranging from Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta, and Echo, with commanders assigned by j/nco to prepare the line of defence.Trenches were dug, a row called was performed to check casualties and formations were set up.

Around 8 p.m., the day has gone and the night has arrived to embark on night navigation patrol. The moon stands out in the dark like a soldier. The darkness contains weird forms, gentle motions in the leaves, and wicked souls surrounding the forest ready for ambush that no amount of special forces or regimentation can resist or chooses to witness.

I was accompanied by Ex jam Marwan Ishaq and Ex jam Isah Mubarak, one of the company commanders. We assumed, "Be Brave Soldiers, This Darkness Ain't Gonna Attack." We were the last three at the rear of echo company for navigating at night. So we cocked our riffles and put it on safe to prepare for an attack by the rebels' Demo squad.

The sounds of GPMG RPG, AK-47 Riffles rattle dum, dummm, dummmmmmmm kakakakakakaka as they are fired from both the north, south, west, and east flanks. Behind us came hordes of demo squad troops determined to capture us at any cost so that we might become their prisoners of war. We couldn't overcome our anxiety of the attack, which caused us to lose confidence in firing our guns.

One of the company commanders in the front, jogging fast in a crouch, shouted to the jam "we are under enemy effective fire, dashed down to nearest cover, and return fire" but it wasn't to return fire at that meritorious moment, keep moving was the ultimate of survival.

At that point of devastation. I managed to manoveur away from the bullets while firing my riffle. But the insurgents, armed with assault rifles and dressed in black scarves and balaclavas, kept closing in on their target.

Ex-jam, Marwan went down unexpectedly. With his riffle, he felt on the ground wounded and managed to escape the large heavy Oscars who sought to capture him.

Unfortunately, one Ex jam and the company commander both went down. Ex-j/sgt Isa was apprehended with his rifle and taken as a prisoner of war to their deadly camp.

We retreated back to our camp, and because the fear of anxiety was too much for me, I couldn't eat supper at the camp, and the rebels withdrew to an unknown location.

I'm not a soldier. I kept on asking myself.

What is the most effective way to undo an ambush?

Is it possible for soldiers to survive an ambush? There must be losses in any ambush; what is the likelihood of surviving an ambush in an IED mine? Ambush is unsurvivable that no level of special force or regimentation can resist.

Ambush is responsible for many of the attacks, deaths, of our fallen heroes who paid the supreme price and casualties of our gallant soldiers in the Frontline.

Never wish your enemy to get into ambush. Tribute to the fallen heroes in the line of duty.

I believe ambush is the last stage of war.

Proudly An Ex jam
