Today, with the development of modern
Science and technology, we enjoy the
convenience that it has brought to our lives. In
my opinion, there are three main reasons for
the current environmental problems. The first
point is that air pollution is in all countries.
Second, the garbage produced by humans is
growing at a rate that is visible to the naked
eye. As a result, the rate of garbage generation
exceeds the rate of destruction and
degradation. The third point is also the most
serious reason which is people's awareness of
protecting the environment is reduced. The production of petroleum based plastics
begins with the distillation of crude oil in an oil
refinery. Crude oil is a naturally occurring,
unrefined petroleum product composed of
hydrocarbon deposits and other organic
materials. During the distillation process the
heavy crude oil is heated and separated into
fractions', groups that contain a mixture of
compounds which share similar boiling
points. Another process is cracking, cracking
breaks large molecules into smaller ones,
some heat treatment occurs but most
cracking uses catalysts. Smaller molecules
are more useful, and therefore of greater
value. An important chemical process
involved in the production of petroleum based
plastics is polymerisation, polymerisatiop i
the process of joining monomers together forming
a chain.
The main cause for air pollution is that today's
society is thinking about technological and
economic progress, ignoring the
environmental damage caused by the
emissions from factories and living. It can be
seen from people's lives thata large amount
of pollution and automobile exhaust gases are
generated every day because of the vehicles.
Many countries now are focusing on the
development of heavy industry, and the factory
also produces a large amount of waste gas,
wastewater to destroy water resources. These
are all caused by people's waste and
carelessness. It is also because of the decline
in people's awareness of environmental
protection.
