Out of the five children that Mr. Kyllian gave birth to, only Mercy was the female child and this is not surprising in her attitude as she behaves like a child, Mercy is the second child of Mr. Kyllian's family but it wasn't obvious as they treated her with maximum care like as if she's the last child. She grew up in her father's home town, where she had her primary school education, this was her father's choice as he said he doesn't want his children to lose the dignity of their culture. When she finished her primary school education, she was to travel to Lagos to further her education in a unique boarding secondary School because her parents based in the village, it's not like they don't have the money to relocate which they almost did considering their only daughter leaving them miles away but they summoned courage and let her go.
When she got to Graceville college, she met a lot of people and forgot the values that her father used to tell her about, this was no surprise to me as she was never exposed to such a beautiful lifestyle before, when she got to the senior secondary school she met a lot of people and mixed up with anybody that seemed to give her attention but there was this very poor friend of hers that they were so close, her name was Cynthia, Cynthia warned mercy times without number but Mercy would never listen.
On the 12th of December was Isaac's birthday and he planned to throw a party at his house, when mercy heard about it, she was interested in the party but she was being restricted as she's a boarding house student and the only way she could attend the party was to sneak out of the hostel at night and possibly come back the same night as planned. Mary never told Cynthia anything about the party as she could predict what she'll say so she didn't bother asking her.
On this fateful day, around 6pm when it was time for prep reading and snuck out of school to attend Isaac's birthdays party, she was obviously not even invited as she isn't even a close friend to Isaac but he couldn't chase her back. So while at the party, they all danced and drank, she was under the influence of of hard drug when she was approached by a young man, he introduced himself as Prince and she was fooled by his looks and fell for his expensive looks as she thought he was the son of a very rich man as he posed to be, they started their friendship and eventually started dating and Mary would sometimes sneak out of the school to meet this guy, on the long run, she got pregnant for him, she was taken to the hospital by Prince and it was confirmed that she was 2 months pregnant, the pregnancy was too late to be aborted and she had no choice than to keep the baby but she had to be careful to avoid her teachers notice that she was pregnant not to talk of her parents, she felt like a disappointment to herself and her friends. She got an idea of tucking her baggy shirts out to cover the secret of her already protruding belly but she couldn't keep her dizziness and irritations away from her hostel mates but they helped her keep it away from the school authorities but this was impossible when she was five months pregnant and it was now getting obvious that she was putting on weight and having a bigger belly.
Mrs. Bello was the first to notice her but she lied that she over ate that day and after school that day, she snuck out again to meet prince at their Meetup point, she explained to him how she couldn't keep the pregnancy any more and prince suggested they they both run away to his parent's place and stayed there till she got delivered of the baby. She was surprised and asked if it was smart for her to stay in the same city that her school is as an hiding place from shame, but it turned out that his real residence was in the village in Calabar State and he was just a mere house boy that had access to the wealth of his boss in Lagos... She was highly disappointed in herself because she was played by "deceit in disguise".
