Late last week, a cybersecurities team disclosed the existence by millions of Bluetooth-enabled wireless smart devices around the globe of 12 potential extreme security vulnerabilities– and some have not already been patched.
All SweynTooth vulnerabilities basically exist in the wireless communication platform Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) software development (SDKs), with at least 480 devices from different vendors, including Samsung, FitBit and Xiaomi. SDKs are the most widely used wireless communication technologies.
Hackers close to vulnerable devices may, according to researchers, abuse this vulnerability to remotely cause blocks, crashes, even bypass the safety of BLE products so that they have arbitrary read-only or write access to functions of the device that are otherwise permitted to be accessed exclusively by an authorized user.
The comprehensive report states that products in question include consumer electronics, smart home devices, which wearables, and are also used in logistics and the medical field.
Medical devices are the most important resources that SweynTooth may significantly influence. The researchers said VivaCheck Laboratories, which produce glucose meters of blood, listed many products for use by the DA14580.
