Microsoft released 129 patches for their applications in September, and with that, it continues the trend of more than a hundred hotfixes per month which was started back in March and seems to continue in an all-time high.
23 of those vulnerabilities were rated critical, 32 of them were for remote code execution vulnerabilities. Which could have allowed an attacker to execute a malicious payload on a target system? For example the CVE-2020-16785 for a vulnerabilities in Microsoft exchange server which cloud be triggered by a maliciously crafted email.
They were also 7 critical RCE vulnerabilities in Microsoft SharePoint that again cloud lead to arbitrary code execution.
So you can see there are a lot of good reasons to update your system as soon as possible.
