5G is still far from being available to populations - let's not even talk about France - that experts in the sector are already organizing for its successor, 6G. Even Apple is getting started.

As 5G takes hold, slowly but surely on the planet - France is still waiting patiently for it - it seems that the tech companies concerned have no intention of waiting before considering the next generation. After 5G, it will logically be 6G. When? How? 'Or' What? Why? What objectives? Apple has decided to participate in this great adventure, this time from the start. The Cupertino company, which has just marketed its very first 5G smartphones, has joined an alliance dedicated to 6G.

Apple Joins An Alliance Working For The Future of 5G and 6G

The alliance in question is called the Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions (ATIS). It already has a number of companies, more or less important, in the tech and telecommunications, and seeks to help the development of the future 6G technology. If at first glance, one might think that these companies are going very quickly, it is better to start prematurely than to leave too late and then be unable to react as it should when the time comes.

An Alliance Wishing The Preeminence of North America in This Field

According to the announcement of the Apple brand: “Designed to lay the foundations of a rich marketplace for innovation in North America in future generations of mobile technologies, the Next G Alliance has been named in direct relation with its primary goal of establishing the preeminence of North America in the evolution of 5G and the development of 6G. Its work will span the entire lifecycle of research, development, manufacturing, standardization and market readiness. ”

To date, there are already many participating companies. In addition to Apple, the alliance thus counts in its ranks Charter, Cisco, Google, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Intel, AT&T, Bell Canada, Ciena, Ericsson, Facebook, InterDigital, JMA Wireless, Microsoft, Nokia, Qualcomm Technologies Inc., Samsung, T-Mobile, TELUS, Telnyx, UScellular and Verizon.
