The Germans are kings of the Europa League.
The first magical night of the old continent took place yesterday at the Ramón Sánchez - Pizjuán Stadium in the city of Seville, Spain, to decide the winner of the second most important club tournament on the planet in a duel between the Scottish Rangers and the Germans Eintracht Frankfurt.
From the start, the match was characterized by being very tight and closely contested, as both teams showed some pressure and nervousness, but nevertheless, they were able to share clear goal scoring chances, especially on the Scottish side.
It was not until the second half that Van Bronckhorst's men took the lead through Joe Aribo in the 57th minute, but the Germans did not sit back and equalized the match with a magnificent goal by their goal scorer and star player Rafael Santos Borré in the 69th minute.
After the 1-1 draw, the stars on the field were the goalkeeper and the Cafetero striker of the team that would ultimately be the champion, i.e. Frankfurt, because with his great and timely interventions, Kevin Trapp, both in extra time and in the penalty shootout, was in charge of helping his team to put half the cup in his pocket, the other half was given to him by Borré when he converted the decisive penalty.
The final score was 1-1 in the ninety minutes and (5-4) in the hard-fought penalty shootout, thus Eintracht became champions after their first European title in 1980, more than 42 years ago.
With this well-deserved victory, the Bundesliga team, despite having finished 11th in the domestic league table, has earned the right to play in the top club tournament (Uefa Champions League) next season, while the former River Plate player managed to seal one of the best participations in this tournament after the one offered years ago by his compatriot Radamel Falcao. Congratulations Eintracht, you are just winners!
I hope this publication has been to your liking, see you next time.
