I like to go fast, whether in a car, bicycle, race car, ATV, go-kart, snowmobile, jet ski or whatever. And yes, I have broken a few bones and suffered a couple of concussions along the way, but that's part of the thrill of it all.
We booked a hotel in advance at the luxurious Marco Vincent Hotel in Puerto Galera, Mindoro, a 3-minute walk to White Beach in the Philippines. The cost was 5,300 pesos for two for the night. Spic and span clean with a great pool and helpful staff.
When the day arrived to travel, we drove our 2013 Mitsubishi Mirage GS from Bonifacio Global City to Batangas and drove it on the Ro Ro.
After driving around for 50 km, we finally checked in, had a look around White Beach, then set upon participating in some activities.
A few kilometers down National Road we spotted X-Treme Sports Philippines. There wasn't a lot of people there so we skipped paintball and the shooting range, and bought a package that included go-karts, an ATV ride and my favorite, 10 laps in a mud buggy. Oh, yeah!
The ATV ride was fun but the girlfriend wasn't too thrilled with the speed, water hazards and the bumpy ride in the mud.
I lapped her 5 times on the go-karts. They were pretty quick.
We saved the best for last and the little lady decided to pass so I had two turns on the mud buggy. I blew the engine on the first one. The caretaker wasn't too happy, but the Aussie owned showed up and said, "No worries, mate!" He was good-natured.
Aboard the second mud buggy (above), a faster one, I pushed it full throttle on the relatively dry surfaces.
Downhill I splashed through two feet of mud and water at half throttle. Unfortunately, my girlfriend missed the shot.
Afterwards, a shower was needed (bring extra clothes and towels!). It took me 30 minutes to wash everything clean of the mud. Great shower and water pressure!
We spent the rest of the afternoon and evening eating, shopping for pasalubong (souvenirs), drinking beer on White Beach, taking in the scenery, and dancing.
If you get a chance, check it out! You won't regret the experience.
