The Aurora Kid's Secret

Wherever he goes he has these colours around him like a warm blanket, He never put them there they just sort of were part of him from the get-go, Hovering round his body or eminating from inside out they surround him, And he knows they'll never let him down because they tend to glow.

And he sees that sharing the colours was s always a good thing to do, Since he could crawl he'd ask for hugs so that they'd be around them too, For the Aurora seemed to soak into all that they touched to change moods, With time he found he could alter the lights to give back the best he can do.

By the time he started school they'd termed him "the hugger" in class, Teachers and students were used to him and he was cheery to be around, They didn't realise their sad demeanor could change with his presence, And that he could settle a room calmly without making any sound.

When he started work he was respected and well liked for no reason, In board meetings and in the office a lovely feeling seemed to settle the room, And though they couldn't see it his being around was always instrumental, In boosting morale and bringing smiles to the darkest atmosphere and gloom.

By the time he married his wife looked forward to his constant affection, She knew all along there was something special about him that's unknown, And she bore him children who were soothed by his kind tender touch, Seeming to effortlessly pacify them no matter their tantrums or tone.

Always the colours shimmered for him his own Aurora that he loved so, How the lights danced and played and responded to his caring ways, He never took for granted that a hug or his close presence made a difference, And he welcomed strangers and those hurting until his dying days.

On his deathbed they asked him "what was your magic or secret? You've always been appreciated and genuinely kind and well respected," And he smiled and said,"nothing I'm just an average Joe who happens to see, That light within me can come out to permeate others, my emotions reflected."
