Tomato cultivation

These vegetables are said to be very nutritious and tasty. If modern methods and improved varieties of tomatoes are cultivated, the yield increases a lot.

At the same time, the nutrition of the financially profitable families can be supplemented by the farmers.

Soil Climate: - Tomatoes can usually be grown in the soil. However, loam and sandy loam soils are more suitable. Usually tomatoes grow well in trees at a temperature of 20 to 25 degrees Celsius. Therefore, winter in Bangladesh is a suitable time for tomato cultivation.

Varieties: There are many varieties of tomatoes like Jessica, TM, 028, Romeo etc.

Land preparation and planting of saplings: - The land should be prepared by cultivating 4 to 5 times and scraping the soil with a ladder. The best time to plant seedlings is 30 to 40 days after sowing.

Seedlings should be planted in two rows in each row. Seedlings can be planted from November to January at a distance of 40 cm from the seedling row to a distance of 40 cm.

Fertilizer application: Tomatoes need to be fertilized for good yield. Dung manure Compost manure 5 to 6 tons per hectare.

Urea 500 to 600 kg, TSP 400 to 500 kg MOP 200 to 300 kg Caserate 40 to 50 kg Half of the total amount of fertilizer should be sprayed on the land at the time of last cultivation.

The remaining half of the fertilizer should be applied in two equal installments 15 and 30 days after planting.

Care: - Before applying during the first and second installment, pruning should be done along with sidekushi. And so that the tree does not lean in the wind, it should be supported by bamboo twigs.

As a result, soil moisture can be retained for a long time with the facility of light and air ingress. Irrigation should be given 4 to 6 times as required.

It should be irrigated 3 to 4 days after planting with light and subsequent installments of fertilizer.

Insect control: - Tomatoes are mainly damaged by two insects such as jab insects and fruit borers. Jab insects are harmful by absorbing sap from the young tips and stems of tomato plants.

And spreads mosaic disease on trees. In order to control this pest, 1000 liters of water should be mixed with Rossor L-40 Cyclone 57 EC or Classic 200 EC and sprayed per hectare of land.
