-
"I am hopeful to Allah that this will be the expiation for the sins of the previous year and the next year." (Muslim, 1162)
.
Fasting is not desirable for pilgrims staying in Arafa. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) stayed in Arafa without fasting.
.
The 9th day of the month of Jilhaj (the day before Eid al-Adha) is called ‘Iwamul Arafah’ or ‘Day of Arafat’, because on this day the pilgrims gather in a field called Arafah. The most important rule of Hajj is to stay on the 9th day of the month of Zilhaj in 'Maidan of Arafa'. Doa on the day of Arafat:
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, * “The best Doa is the Doa on the Day of Arafat. And the best of what I and my previous prophets have said is: *
There is no god but Allah, the One, the Irresistible. There is no partner with Him.
* La ila-ha illallah-hu wahdahu la sharika lahu, lahul mulku wa lahul hamdu, wa hua ‘ala qulli shai’in qadir. *
