Global health officials have sounded the alarm over rising cases in Europe and elsewhere of monkeypox, a type of viral infection most common to west and central Africa.

The UN agencies said that i expect identify more casea of monkey pox as it expand surveillance in the countries where diseases typically not found, and will provide further guidence amd recommendation for upcoming days in countries on how mitigate the spread of monkey pox.

How dangerous is it?

Monkeypox is a virus that can cause syptoms including fever, aches and presents with a diatinctive bumpy rash.

It is related to small pox, but it is usually milder particularly the west Africa starin of virus that was identified in U.S case, which has a fatality rate of around 1%. Most of the people fully recover in two to four weeks.

Transmission of Monkeypox:

The virus is not easily transmitted as SARS-CoV-2 virus that spurred Covid-19 pandemic in the world.

Expert belives that current Monkeypox outbreak is being spread by close, intimate skin or skin contact, with someone who have an active rash.

What has health experts concerned?

According to WHO, as they are occuring in the countries where the virus dose not actively circulate. Scientists are seeking to understand the origin of current cases and whether anything about the virus has changed.

Most of the cases so far have been detected from Spain Portugal and UK. There also have been cases in Australia,Canada and a single case of monkeypox have been confirmed in Boston.

WHO official have express concerned that more infection spread as people gather for festivals, parties and holidays during coming summer in Europe or elsewhere.

How can people protect against virus?

There are antiviral drugs that can be used for monkeypox treatment under certain circumstances.

More broadly people have to avoid or minimize the physical contact in case of active victum. People who suspect they have monkey pox should isolate and seek medical care.

This is all of my information about monkey pox i've collected from news, different posts about this. We all intially got scared from the name of virus, without knowing its ability causing disease. I liked to share this information because i heard alot of gossips about this that oh its very dangerous and more fatal than COVID. Then i did a brief study about this and i get some information that i shared above.

Its right that every disease is dangerous but the basic thing we should do is to know the root cause, severity of disease and its treatment and precautionary measures.
