The extensive breadth of the open space in Denali is emotionally overwhelming. With no sign of humanity, I felt the weight of expectations lifted off my chest, and the sense of freedom was exhilarating. It just felt good to be alive to bear witness to such beauty. A rainbow in a waterfall. I shared a high speed (slow mo) video showing the rainbow formed by individual drops in a rainbow the other day and was reminded of this picture I took at the end of an adventure with my brother to find and photograph a little known waterfall I remembered visiting as a teenager. Perception is a funny thing sometimes. I was out photographing a partially drained Lake Mulwala when someone walked past and said and I kid you not "isn't it ugly when it is drained". After being left speechless, I said "but it is great for photography, have a nice day". For information sake, Lake Mulwala is to be drained again in winter this year for maintenance and weed control. Unpopular opinion… How do you make a crappy shot look cool? Make it black and white. Personally I am a big fan of color, which is why you may see me post a black and white shot once every year or so (and I haven’t converted a shot into black and white in probably ten years).
