Mehendi/Henna is a kind of body art used for temporary tattooing usually applied by making designs on hands . It is very popular among women in South Asia and Middle East. The Pakistani wedding tradition calls for a Mehndi ceremony  to be held the night before the wedding as a way of wishing the bride good health and prosperity as she makes her journey on to marriage.

Getting strange markings out of nowhere

Since from my childhood, I have seen women complaining that they wake up with mehendi stains on the tips and palm of their hands (when they didn't apply it at the first place) , last week I heard it from a friend who lives in Peshawar city of Pakistan, she experienced the same thing and it made her worried

Being a Pakistani , I have always heard a series of different myths and stories throughout my childhood about it, some of them are

Popular myths

When a fairy gets married , she applies mehendi to a young girl who shares same name as her ( This one is very popular)

When a super natural creature , spirit falls in love with a human being, they try to give them a sign by leaving henna stains on hands.

It is a sign of black magic, if someone becomes a victim of black magic the demon marks their hands with henna.

Surprisingly, the women in Peshawar city experience it most, the henna marking are always strange and make no sense at all. It is still an on- going mystery .
