Have you heard about this word armagedon before and when you did, what was it that occurred to you when It was first spoken of to you either by a friend, a close relative of yours or perhaps, a clergy man who is presiding over a service activities in the church?
Did you ever ponder over what things are associated with such words or was your mind set straight to what that constitute such words that sometimes appear very frightening?
Do you also feel relaxed and not even perturbed at the mention of such words owning to the fact that you have solidily gained enough grounds on the detects and the rules of engagement and that 9f knowlege in the christain way?
Well then, whichever is your case, let us however try as much as we can to take to heart that one day we shall all be meeting with this same fate of armagedon especially, when the world ends.
Let us then use this little space of time that we have here to dicuss briefly what this word Armagedon means and what are the things expected to do in the time of the armagedon.
WHAT THEN IS ARMAGEDDON?
According to the new world translation of the holy scriptures of the Jw.org, The word Armageddon in Revelation chapter 16 from verses 1 to 21 (rev; 16 vs 1-21) means a war of the great day of Jehovah. Note that word Jehovah, that is the name of the almighty God.
Verse 16 of that same bible book of Revelation chapter 16 made it clear that; "And they gathered them together to a place that is called in Hebrew Armageddon".
Haven seen and as it was said above, it should be enough to help us understand the real issues that are in existence here being, "...together to a place that is called in Hebrew, Armageddon". What does that expression suggest? A place that is not defined or a place that has no geographical location that could easily be found on a compass or on a map or better still, a place like a country, etc. Yes, it suggests that this place called Armageddon is simply an expression of war or an expression of a kind of war that is to take place among the warring factions.
It must not be forgotten that this war of armageddon as it were is a righteous war in which God (Jehovah) through his son Jesus Christ will remove all sorts of evils and evil doers from among mankind so that the peace that exceeds all things will be man's (philipians 4:7). What a wonderful prospect we have when we believe in God, in his son and in their righteous standards.
THE START OF ARMAGEDDON
Now that we have known the meaning of such word Armageddon, it becomes a matter of urgency for us to at least dig a little bit briefly into the start of this war of armageddon.
Recall that Jesus came to the earth to die for our sins according to the christain belief and as such, he died on what some believed was a cross while to others, a torture stake. We were told that he was raised up on the third day according to biblical prohecies that were fulfilled back then with some remarkable changes lf which two out of them all was his ascention to the heaven inorder to meet with his father and God after completing his earthly assignment being that of saving mankind and reconciling them back with God and then helping to restore a paradise lost for many years back by our first parents Adam and Eve at the garden of eden we were told.
Then, he was commissioned with the most powerful authority to send Satan the Devil out of the heavens into some space that are well above human comprehension and while wielding such great powers, he brought to subject all things apart from God himself who's given him the powers to subdue, to conquer and as such, complete his conquest which he did back then in 1914 when he was raised to the right hand of God in which he began ruling as king until the one thousand years of his reign are over when he will then officially submit the kingdom of his father and God back to him.
"LOOK! IAM MAKING ALL THINGS MADE NEW" (Rev 21:1-5)
God promises of making all things new after he would have successfully destroyed Satan the Devil and his cohorts of unrepentant earthily mankind who would refused blatantly, God's righteous standards through his son Jesus Christ in a holy battle of Armageddon being the great war or the day of jehovah (God) our lord and king.
What are some of the changes we expect from God that are to be made new one may ask? Simply relate them to be the removal of all manners of sufferings, bad governments and their bad policies, sicknesses of all kinds and of course, mankind's last enemey-death will be swallowed up forever and ever amen!
What a womderfulprospect of a better assured life awaits us all! What then is needed on our parts if we are to survive this great war or geeat day of God the almighty in armageddon? Action! Yes much action is needed on our part if we are to survive with the hope of living in a new world where righteousness is to dwell.
