The social activities of the Government still with Britain in focus; 24/12/21.

The Need For Social Activities.

The high rate of the inequality of wealth and opportunity has been one of, if not the main or actual facts of the society in Britain and also in most other parts of the world so far.

This inequality have always being the key aspect of the private enterprise given their tendencies to seize all tools of economic production and maintain a level of control over the government which has resulted in an adverse effect on the citizenry as it is totally based on creating an avenue for enriching a person as against the interest of too many others while their efforts are still added in this give and take game of private enterprise by both the government and the private individuals.

However, there were the evil consequences of of inequality in which in the earliest part of the century, only a few priveleged set of individuals obtained great amounts of wealth while the larger part of the population - the masses, lived in abject poverty, are ill-fed, and insanitarily housed and with the most merest of education which denied them the rights to make a public demand of their rights as they are been subjected to some slavery all in the name of private enterprising where they work under harsh conditions and are paid some peanuts or pultry sum of amount as salaries.

Moreso, the private enterprise system that was adopted back then in England ensured that the talents of all the children that were born back then, were neccessarilly staunted and the developments of industries rather made it very progressively harder for anyone to rise from his unaccepted position of poverty, low mentality, less education, to his accepted position where the reverse will be the case.

Evidently, these poor conditions of livelihood and a genral inequality ensured that the working class who fell into the backward backgrounds began to assemble themselves in the towns where they organizsed themselves and demanded a better life from all the concerned decision making units and departments or firms within the country.

However, it would be noticed that seeing to that, the government out of fear, wisdom and humanity was induced to modify the rigours of Capitalism by the introduction of the "Social Services", which would now would then go ahead and absorb to a great extent, a larger part of the energies of the government which will serve as an example to other countries.

These services cost a great deal and are sometimes represented as a burden to the country's industries but there were several other ways they helped in increasing production which are thus highlighted below:

• By raising the general standard of living of the poorest people.

• By improving more on health and thus enable the workers work quite effeciently than before.

• By providing better houses and sanitation that was denied the poor people that work for the Capitalists and their quest for unsatisfactory money making quest.

• Through a universal education, they were able to release all for the service of the community, a stream of talents that would later end up being very useful even after they had been left undiscovered.

• By ensuring that the old age pensions were created, which increased the worker's chances of being incorporated back into the system as one who still holds a value society wise in relation to work.

The arguement

Seeing the genrally accepted and notable aspects of the good jobs done by the Social Service, it would go to be argued by the Capitalists as regards why there was an increase in the totality of wealth that are seen here and there but that arguement lacked every moral justifications and backing seeing the fact that; "the wellbeing of a country should and will never be judged by such totals of wealth available as they (the capitalists) have argued but by the standard of life which the masses or the mass of the citizenry are able to enjoy".

It was very obvious that the Social Service did manage to get that to perfection as there was a total increase in the general standard of living of the people as against what it was before when the government had only paid a rapt attention to the Capitalists and their cheat tendencies.

In summary.

In summary, the function of the Social Service may be said as thus:

• To provide for all those who, by reason of old age, sickness or unemployment, are unable to provide for themselves.

• To promote equality of opportunities and

• To prevent the inequality of becoming so great so as not to endanger the the entire Social System and disrupt what they have toiled very hard for years to help install.

In conclusion, it should never be forgotten that the Social Service work was performed by the Ministry of Labour, Food, Health, Education and National Insurance.
