If you regularly use CoinGecko to track the prices of your favorite crypto then I am sure you would have noticed that a couple of weeks back they introduced Candies together with a Rewards section. I sure noticed the small candy jar on the top right corner as I check the crypto prices 10-20 times everyday (OK, sometimes I check it 100 times a day).
What Exactly is Candies and what Rewards is CoinGecko offering?
No, before you get the wrong idea I want to clarify that Candies is not a new token launched in the market. It is just native reward points introduced by CoinGecko which you can collect if you visit the site regularly. The first day you get 10 candies, the next day 20 and so on. At the end of first week you get 100 and from next week the counter is reset with 10 candies being awarded the first day.
Linked to these candies there is a rewards section where you see gifts which can be redeemed for a set of candies eg. 600 candies gets you a DeFi book, 1000 candies get you a water flask. The item which caught my fancy was the CoinGecko branded T-Shirt for 1000 candies.
How I collected 1000 Candies!
I wanted to be the first amongst my friends to get my hands on this awesome CoinGecko shirt so I made sure to collect my candies everyday and soon I had the required 1000 candies in my account. I started imagining in my mind how will I react when strangers ask me “Excuse me Sir! What is that CoinGecko I see on your Shirt?” and then I will take them down the rabbit hole of crypto zone.
Alas! As I opened the rewards section and frantically clicked the redeem button on the shirt nothing happened. Then I saw the message “0 left” which meant the T Shirts are out of stock and clearly I was not the first to collect 1000 candies. It said this was valid till 31st July so perhaps they will restock on 1st Aug and I will try my luck again.
