Parents,Train up your child in the way that he should go,so that when he is old,he would not depart from it.The way you bring up your child matters a lot and would determine the kind of a person that child would grow up to become. It's not Everytime that your child needs to be pampered. There are times that the child would need some spanking and some cane to make he or she sit up right and be more serious.
Correct your child whenever he or she is going astray..That is why you are the parent. it means an elderly person can not be in the market place and the head of a new born baby should not be straight) as an elderly person,there are so many things that you need to correct when you are in the midst of children,because you know better,you have lots of experience..
Don't keep quiet when your child does anything wrong just because you don't want the child to cry or feel that you hate him or her..Do not spare the rod,if you do,you will spoil the child...Whenever you see your children come home with things that you know is not theirs,make sure you question them and have them return it back to the rightful owner. Teach them the word of the Lord on a daily basis..Make sure they are well nourished in the word of God..
Make your lifestyle something that is worthy of emulation..If you are telling your children not to steal,make sure you show them good examples..Do what you preach yourself...If you are telling them that it's not good for a child of God to fight,make sure you also don't fight because children look at what you do and learn faster from your actions than your word..
Let me share this story I read on WhatsApp sometimes ago with you. The boy's parents have always been preaching to their little son. They do tell him that as a child of God, it's not good to fight and abuse. They even went ahead to tell him that as a follower of Jesus,we should behave like Jesus..The boy asked and said what does Jesus do,they told him Jesus does not fight and quarrel with others..The child became confused and asked them that,how many Jesus do we have?? The parents were taken aback by that question..The mother said there is only one Jesus and asked why the boy asked that question..The boy then said that it is because daddy and mummy always fight and quarrel with each other and they call themselves Jesus children,that was why he thought there are many Jesus( the one that loves his children to fight and quarrel and the one that doesn't)...
Parents,let your life preach good things to your children...Spare not the rod when the rod is necessary so you would not use your own hands to spoil your own child yourself. Train up your child in the way that he should go so that when he grows up he would not depart from it..Train that child now,so that he or she can give you peace when you get old and can do nothing...
