We have heard people say that absolutely nothing in our life is waisted, or that everything is FOR us and nothing is AGAINST us and these statement are completely true, but for many, these statements don’t resonate with us. The misunderstanding that leads to this confusion is, we believe we choose our purpose and we don’t choose our purpose. What we see as us choosing our purpose, is really us choosing our path to our purpose. When we see our purpose as becoming the great singer, the wealthy business person, the world class athlete, or whatever it is that we choose in life and someone tells us that it’s ok that our lifelong dream did not come true, “it is for you!” I think everyone can understand why, “it is for you” does not resonate with us in this scenario. When we understand that we don’t choose our purpose, but our path to our purpose, this understanding makes “it is for you” more meaningful. It is not the victory that is our purpose, but our purpose lies in who we become as a result of the relentless pursuit of that victory, as we fight through the vicissitudes of success, struggle, adversity, joy and pain.

It is a motivational idea, to keep following the direction of success in our own lives. We don't have the power to face lifestyle struggles, without first finding out what leads to personal fulfilment.
If the direction is more perceivable, life goes on according to our expectation. As you said, we have to continue being motivated on one side of the road towards goal accomplishment.
