Most of the news this summer was about Apple 5G iPhones. But today, the famous whistleblower, L0veToDream, revealed the names of all the new iPhone models in a tweet. Note that these names have been announced by a whistleblower and are not official at all.
The 5.4-inch iPhone will probably be called the iPhone 12 Mini
The whistleblower believes that Apple plans to launch its 5.4-inch iPhone as the iPhone 12 Mini. The name of the 6.1-inch (normal) model will be only iPhone 12. The 6.1-inch Pro model will be introduced as the iPhone 12 Pro, and the largest model with a 6.7-inch display will also be introduced as the iPhone 12 Pro Max. All of these models will be powered by a 5-nanometer A14 Bionic chip developed by TSMC with 11.8 billion transistors.
The iPhone 12 Mini and iPhone 12 are expected to come with 4GB of RAM, but the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max will have 6GB of RAM. It is also said that regular models will use a dual camera system, but there will be a triple camera system on the back cover of Pro models. On the other hand, it is not yet clear whether the Pro models will be equipped with a LiDAR sensor or not. This sensor improves augmented reality (AR) capabilities as well as enhances the quality of portrait images.
It is also unclear which iPhone 12 models will have what kind of 5G internet. It should be noted that 5G signals have two types; sub-6GHz and mmWave. The former has much better coverage, but its speed is only slightly better than LTE. But high-speed internet is actually mmWave, which unfortunately has very poor coverage and is easily disrupted by various obstacles. There are various rumors about the support of different 5G signals in iPhone 12 models. A number of reports have suggested that some iPhone 12 models will support both signals.
It has also been revealed that the battery capacity of the iPhone 12 series phones will not be as good as the iPhone 11 series phones. Apple has increased the battery capacity of the iPhone 11 series, and the iPhone 11 Pro Max model offers the best charging among smartphones. With the addition of 5G support, as well as the possibility of a 120Hz refresh rate, we expected the battery capacity of the iPhone 12 series to increase, but news and rumors have indicated a decrease in battery capacity. However, some sources have said that Apple will not use a 120 Hz display in its new iPhones, so their charging will not be so weak. On the other hand, the number of A14 Bionic chip transistors is about 40% more than the number of A13 Bionic transistors. This means that the new chip is very low consumption and can help charge 12 Series iPhones. Increasing the number of transistors will also help improve the performance of the phones.
Apple will likely unveil its new iPhones next week. The company last week unveiled products such as the iPad Air 2020 (with a new design), the eighth generation iPad, the Apple Watch Series 6 and the affordable Apple Watch SE model.
