Following the sudden resignation of the anonymous founder of SushiSwap, many users have begun to speculate about the identity of this controversial character. While some focused on the project's current supervisor, Sam Bankman-Fried, CEO of FTX Exchange, others focused on Sorawit Suriyakarn, the band's chief technical officer, as the person behind it. They saw this project. Evidence includes the Sushiswap.org domain, which indicates that the website is hosted at the same IP address as the Band Protocol website. In an email to Quintel Telegraph, Band CEO Suravit Sryakarn said the evidence was misleading and denied all allegations that he was behind the SushiSwap project.
He acknowledged that Chef Nomi (the anonymous founder of SushiSwap) had contacted Sriakarn for a code review. Since BAND was one of the tokens that could be used for the SUSHI farm, Sriakarn conducted such surveys to "make sure that users' capital would not be wasted." "In fact, we wanted to support such an idea because it could directly benefit BAND holders, and Sushiswap was not the only project on which we implemented this feature," Srinavicon added.
He went on to explain that the IP addresses are essentially the same because both websites are hosted on Render, the "more popular" web hosting service. Many other completely irrelevant websites are located at the same address, which seems to increase the likelihood that it is random. Other possible "evidence", including similarities in the frontend code, refers to similar names for some common files that have a common "main-chunk.css" layout. Serinavicon stated that this is the result of using both React frameworks, which are a very popular tool for frontend development. He also said that similar naming schemes can be found in any React application. Finally, some noted that Secure Sockets Layer, or SSL, validation for both websites was issued by a single reference. This is also very common and many websites use the same provider. Serinavicon concluded:
I hope this explanation dispels some misconceptions by some people trying to link the Band to Sushiswap. As we stated in the official response, although we may have helped them at the beginning of the project, we are not the creator of Sushiswap and have no share in it.
The identity of the founder of SushiSwap is still unknown, and the allegations do not appear to be convincing. In the meantime, it seems that the project is gradually changing to a new ownership model led by the Houd user community.
