The sun is rising. The soft light of the sun is descending down the hill towards the settlement. After breakfast, four friends are ready. A group of young people who had met on the bus the night before also joined us. A 'moon car' was fixed without wasting time. Green hills on either side of the winding road. The top of the mountain is blocked by white mist. Our car started running through the mountains and forests. Thanchi is our destination from Bandarban city.
I reached Thanchi around 12 noon. After a short rest at Thanchi Bazaar, the procession started again. The destination is now Remakri. Journey by river. Three motor boats were rented. There is a long way to go from Thanchi Bazar through Sangu river. This path is not straight. Layers of stones on the spiral of Sangur. All the stones of huge size on both sides. The rocks seem to have blocked the river. Beauty awaits at every bend of the river for travelers. This river is not suitable for boating. Leaving the adversity behind, our boat is running towards Remakri. Light wind is blowing, what a strange smell in the air. What is the smell of the mountains? What does the mountain smell like? The endless murmur of the river is rushing along with the boat. Huts on the hill, local young women are collecting oysters on the knees of the river.
We are now in the ‘big rock’ area. The number of stones is relatively high here. Rocks are broken from the mountains and scattered in the river. Where the water is low, the boat is stuck in the rocks. It's not that I don't feel a little scared. I had to fall into the water several times to push the boat. However, the middleman has no worries. They travel this way every day. The boatman started to get out of the boat efficiently. We reached Remakri after a thrilling two hour trek. After a while the evening will come down. Arrangements were made to stay in a house on the hill. The room is one but there are 13 people. There is no way, we spent the night in a huddle.
I got up very early in the morning and started walking again. I went out despite the cold. This time the destination is Nafakhum Jharna. Walking through the thick fog. Jhiripath in the middle of the hill. Hills on either side, Remakri canal in the middle. At this time the water is less. Knee water somewhere. Going forward near the mountain. Sometimes flat path, sometimes steep. This is dry, this is knee-deep again.
After about two hours, we stood in front of Nafkum fountain, we were standing in front of the river. Unexpected the beauty of natural shower. Standing in front of the shower, is fascinated. A wonderful! The sound of this shower is available from a long distance. There is less water in Nafakum in the winter. Its actual form of rainy season is exposed. At one time the fascinated beliefs had to be pulled. The end of the period of stay. Again, the road started. But now the return is on the way.
