Tsunami

Tsunami is a Japanese word that literally means harbor / port wave. Oceanographers called the tsunami "seismic waves caused by earthquakes." This deadly wave is caused by the sudden rise and fall of the Vah-Pesnet at the bottom of the sea. Such waves are sometimes created due to the volcanic activity of the seabed. A tsunami can be caused by an earthquake of more than seven magnitude near the coast or at the bottom of the sea, volcanic eruptions, landslides and the fall of huge meteorites into the sea.

Before the tsunami, the water suddenly moved far away from the shoreline. Later it came back in the form of huge waves. If the water from the coastline goes down a lot, it is understood that there will be a tsunami. A tsunami alert is now issued if there is an earthquake at the bottom of the ocean.

Tsunami and cyclonic tidal waves cause similar damage in coastal areas. Cyclone preparedness programs work in all coastal areas that are at risk for tsunamis. If CPP volunteers are properly trained in tsunami response, they will be able to protect the lives and property of coastal people from tsunami disasters. In view of this idea, under CDMP Fuse-1, in the financial year 2009-2010, CPP volunteers were given training on 1 day tsunami response and subsequently the issue of tsunami was included in the volunteer training module.
