The line "I had no intention of shooting the elephant" is taken from George Orwell's famous story - "Shooting an Elephant". And the line depicts the empathy of the police officer i.e. the divisionr of the story.

At one point in the story, when the sub-divisionr of the story wanted to shoot the elephant under pressure from the Burmese, sympathy worked inside him. He thought that killing such a big animal should not be done at all, moreover, the value of the elephant now, after death, will be nothing. Moreover, the owner of the elephant will be a big loss. But he was helpless. At that time the whole situation was very complicated and upset. Because at that time the whole region was surrounded by imperialism. If he did not shoot the elephant, the British oppressors would kill him and kill him from the top of the hill and throw him down into the ditch. Thinking about everything, he began to think of himself as a great criminal. But he had nothing to do. He is a poorly educated young man. What the English people allow him to do, he must do. Haq is bad, Haq is good. He turned his shotgun on himself when apprehended by a police officer on the porch of the house where the shootings took place. But did not hear any sound, but heard the sound of the opposite people. But then a surprise happened. He did not move, nor did he fall, but his body changed. He suddenly felt scared. Fear of bullets seems to have exhausted. Five seconds later, he knelt down. Saliva is falling from his mouth. The whole old age seemed to surround him, like a thousand-year-old elephant. He fired at the spot again, which means he started to say as soon as he saw it. Instead of breaking, the elephant slowly got up again. He fired again. Worked this time. The whole body is in pain, the legs are full of strength. As he read, he seemed to want to get up again, but he couldn't. It fell to the ground in such a way that it seemed as if a whole mountain had collapsed. His head is facing the sky like a tree. For the first and last time, he called out. At the sound of his call, it seems that the ground will rise.

He got up. People are running towards me crossing the mud. It is understood that the elephant is not dead yet, it is still breathing. The face is yes. He waited for a while for her to die. But his breathing did not stop. Shot two more. The blood is coming out, but he is not dying. Slowly the elephant is dying. In many parts of the world, he don't think you can shoot him. He can hear terrible noises there. The death of big animals is very terrible, they can't move, they can't die. He continued to shoot one after the other with a small rifle, seeing no change. Later he could no longer stand, and left. Later it was heard that it took another hour and a half for the animal to die.

In the light of the above discussion, it can be said that the sub-divisionr of the story has been forced to kill the elephant even after accepting the situation. He was an acknowledgment of imperialism, in sh a life could not be desirable to anyone and it crippled us.
