The Great Wall of China is one of the seven wonders of the world. It is said to be the only installation on Earth that can be seen from the moon. The length of the Great Wall of China is about 628 kilometers. However, if the branch walls of this wall are joined together, the length stands at about 5500 miles. The Chinese name for this Great Wall is Changchang, which means long wall. Today I will know the beginning and end of this 2300 year old wall!

Who is the builder of this great wall

The first emperor of the Qin Dynasty built this great wall āĻāĻ‡ an idea most people have. That is not entirely true. Many historians are reluctant to accept this conventional basis. According to them, Emperor Zhou took the initiative to build the Great Wall of China at the beginning of the Zhou Empire. He first took the initiative to build a large wall along the state border. Many believe that this work began in the 7th century BC. However, the main work was completed during the Qin Empire. The wall was extended during the Han Dynasty (206 BC to 220 AD).

Later, during the Ming Dynasty (138-1844), the Great Wall of China was renovated. That's when this wall got a modern look. That is why many people call the Great Wall of China the 'Wall of the Ming'. It is estimated that more than 1 million workers worked on the wall at different times. According to scientists, most of the workers died during the construction of this wall and many were buried there.

Behind the construction of this glorious wall was hard work, ingenuity and thoughtfulness. Almost everything that was found in the vicinity was used during the construction of this wall. Nothing was left out of the wood from the stone. When the wall was rebuilt during the Ming Dynasty, bricks were used instead of stone!

Behind the Great Wall

The main purpose of building the Great Wall of China was to protect the empire from outside aggression. At that time the Martians were known as a very aggressive nation. They formed archers to conquer various empires, against which resistance was almost impossible. Originally, the initiative was taken to build this great wall to stop them. Because, Qin Si Huang wanted to keep his northern empire completely free of enemies. That is why a huge wall with a thousand towers was built. And in these towers were always kept soldiers, whose job was to keep an eye on the movements of the enemy from outside. At that time, the Great Wall of China played a major role as a border as well as a defense. Moreover, the Great Wall plays an important role in trade.

Is it just the walls?

It is true that the Great Wall is an unbroken long wall. There are also various towers on the wall, where the soldiers were on guard, and there are more shelters for the soldiers. It is estimated that during the Ming Dynasty, about one million troops were deployed to guard the Great Wall. It was their stronghold of military defense.

This wall is on the way to destruction

The part of the wall facing Beijing is the place where tourists can travel. Other parts of the wall are in danger of being destroyed. At present about 2000 km of the wall or 30 percent of the damage is done. The main reason is natural disasters. However, the Chinese government is making every effort to keep the wall alive. The Chinese government has also enacted laws to protect the Great Wall.

A crowd of 70,000 people a day

Thousands of tourists flock to see the Great Wall of China every day. The most crowded are in the part of Bedling. In 2001, about 60 million people came to visit this part. The number of tourists visiting this wall exceeds 60,000 a day during the coming season!
