Ozone layer depletion
A layer of ozone extends from 10-50km above the earth it absorbs much of the uv rays of the sun which is very harmful to man and other living organisms in its pure form ozone gases blush, explosive and highly poisonous it has been discovered in the recent past that the ozone layer us rapidly depleting the ozone layer has discovered a hole over the Antarctica. The main cause of decline in thickness of the ozone layer is the increasing level of gases named chloroflorocarbons which contains chlorine, flourine and carbons these gases are produced from the air conditioner, refrigerators and various vehicles as the chloroflourocarbins rise the atmosphere,uv rays breaks CFC's time release CL. The flourine and chlorine break the ozone into oxygen faster than it can be reformed from oxygen. A single chlorine atom can react with up rays and destroy about one million ozone molecules.
Harmful effects
As the ozone layer becomes thinner, more ultraviolet rays from the sun reach the earth these rays affect all life on the earth by increasing temperature these can skin cancer and cataract to humans these can cause crops plants trees marine plankton and weather patterns.
Acid rain
Burning of fossil fuels also liberate sulphur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide these oxides dissolves in the water vapours of the atmosphere to form sulfuric acid, sulfuruous acids, nitric acid and nitrous acid
Harmful effect
The acid rain has a number of harmful effects it increase soil acidilty it destroys crops and forest and endangers animals and human life on the land and aquatic life in lakes acid rain draining through the soil washes out essential nutrients such as calcium and potassium acid rain also kills decompers and microorganisms it causes skin cancer and stone cancer..the example of stone cancer is Taj Mahal,Aagra india.
